Hi I am a 42 year old single mom who loves to take care of people. I have over 20 years experience taking care of people.

What makes me a great caregiver is that I pay attention to details. I do exactly what I'm told, asked and also give advice according to my expertise and I tell the truth about what is needed when it matters. I first started working with elders within my monastery taking care of their basic needs and taking them back and forth to doctor's appointments and following their doctors care of plan. That transmitted to my professional work life as a certified nursing aide, as I work in the nursing homes and also in private home settings. It brings me joy to see those who are in need of help receive the assistance that they need without taking away their dignity and also giving them the extra help that's necessary.... at the same time allowing them to do what they can for themselves. I have a broad range going from helping those with terminal illnesses all the way to those who just need extra assistance around the house. There is no job too big or too small for me to do.

I have been a caregiver for a few years now. In those few years, i have learned valuable lessons that will stay with me forever. Lessons taught by other staff or a patient. They can't teach you everything in a classroom, you have to learn somethings hands on, and those are the lessons I will never forget. Being a caregiver has taught me how to put others needs before my own, it has taught me gratitude and selflessness. Being a caregiver isn't about just doing your job, it's about compassion. I treat all of my clients as if they are family, because in reality they will become a second family.

As the mother of two teenagers with extra needs and the wife of a disabled veteran, caregiving is part of my everyday life. I held my Home Health Aid certificate at one point in a nursing home but eventually changed to private care due to the lack of compassion and communication that large facilities provide. I eventually decided to return to college and recently graduated with my bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education: Child & Family Services. During my time at SUNY Cobleskill, I also had the opportunity to be the team lead for the Generations Together Respite program. The program was geared towards individuals with dementia and their families working with preschool children in a coordination of care.

I stay calm it helps with dementia I'm friendly I like to kid around. I like being around the elderly. I love all the new things I learn from them the stories of there life. It's great my grandmother was a nurse and when she retired she opened her home to military vets and I would help her make beds clean there rooms and talk with them. I received my C.N.A. in 98.

I love spending extra time with the patient to connect with them and make them feel taken care of. My main concern is making the patient feel happy and provide them with a positive outlook. I am calm caring, and professional. I love what I do and look forward to my time spent with my patients.
