I am patient and realistic. I know that our faculties change as we get older. It can be frightening to loose control of our lives as well as our bodies. I feel I am here to help my clients accept and embrace what is occurring . I have to readjust my expectations daily. I have clients who appear to be fading then suddenly are back to where they were. I am observant, I notice shifts in enthusiasm and attitude. I don't ignore those observations I make note to see if something has gone wrong or right!I understand the need for routine and control of your surroundings, personal items and placement of furniture. I read blogs, magazines and books to keep up on nutrition, medications, benefits, and side affects, and behavior. I am very interested in brain trauma, the effects of stroke on behavior, balance, aphasia. I have worked closely with several stroke survivors. Currently I assist a woman in who experiences aphasia. She is taking part in a study by Portland State University on aphasia and how it affects stroke survivors and their families. I have learned a great deal from her and the study. Previous to this, I worked with a stroke survivor who had a stroke after open heart surgery. When we first met she was unable to sit alone ,she has gone from being unable to sit alone to getting in and out of bed walking for up to 40 minutes with a walker, 6-13-16 she walked alone. I had her do her exercises every day, work on computer games, given by her Occupational therapist. She now removes her own shoes, and can dress her self. I was a caregiver to my mother after a brain injury suffered in a terrible car accident. In 2010 I shared hospice care for my brother who had bone cancer. My thoughts everyday were, what can I do to better understand what is happening, and how can I give him comfort. All of these qualities make me a good caregiver.

What makes me a great caregiver is my desire to give back to seniors and to make them happy and give them comfort from the best. I became a caregiver, because my grandmother was a RN and she was my inspiration.

My interests for being a caregiver were sparked by my cousin who is currently a full-time caretaker. He told me about the friendships you develop with the residents and how it feels like you are truly making a difference in the world and I decided that I wanted those close friendships and that feeling as well! Although this would be the first time I would be taking care of our elderly community in the public, I have much experience helping my grandma and grandpa with things like getting groceries for them, helping them with technology, making them dinner, and keeping them company. I am an outgoing, kind-hearted, attentive 18 year old with an old soul that allows me to relate to our seniors so much and truly learn from them, listen to them, provide them company, and attend to any and all of their needs.

Hello! I am a current Klamath Community College Student in the Certified Nursing Program, and have aspirations of attending University to achieve a Registered Nursing degree. I would describe my best traits as compassionate, understanding, and reliable. I am a bright girl, and capable of acquiring new skills competently and quickly. I am a dedicated volunteer in the Klamath Basin, with focus always on supporting the most vulnerable among us. Though my present and past employment have focus in other areas, I feel they've given me the interpersonal skills to navigate conflict and really put people at the forefront of my work. I'm excited to begin working directly with Clients and families, and help to empower the aging and disabled communities through my service. Though I am a student, my schedule is very flexible. I have reliable transportation with an excellent driving record, and am not afraid of getting my hands dirty in service to those in need. Happy to negotiate any aspect of care you or your loved one may be seeking. Thanks for the consideration!
