Since I was a very young girl when asked what I want to do I've always been able to respond in the same way: I want to help people. I've always been driven to grow and improve. This desire also extends out to the people around me. As a caregiver, I go out of my way to ensure my client's needs are met before that of my own. I try to get to know each person as what they really are: an incredible human being, with a LOT to offer. I always try to learn something from my incounters, no matter how brief the engagement. What are your personality traits or expertise that help you be a great caregiver? - As an artist, I tend to see the little things that many overlook. I have been told by many of my clients, coworkers, friends and family, that I am a calming spirit to be around. I have experience working with individuals with physical and psychiatric disabilities. What attracted you to being a caregiver? - I always loved people and have a motherly desire to care for others. What do you enjoy most about being a caregiver? - I love hearing about the people's lives and connecting with them. -- I am teaching my son American Sign Language, while I am not fluent I do hope to be one day. I also understand a little bit of Spanish, although I can read it better than speak it.

I'm a people person. I'm flexible and compatible with, I would say, just about every personality type. Just for the simple fact that I accept people for who they are and where they are. I like to say, essentially, I will meet them where they're at in life. What attracted me to being a caregiver is my desire to help people live as free and independent as possible. I enjoy being a caregiver because I love people and their company and I love hearing their stories of where they've been and what they've done. I think what I love most about being a caregiver is just the fact that I'm empowered to give a piece of myself to someone, to hopefully make their life better or more comfortable. I have a lot of achievements, but I think the one that I'm most proud of is the one where I had a client who would not allow anyone to draw their blood or do any kind of testing on them that was really necessary to make things better for them and get them a proper health care assessment. But, they were willing to put down their guard for me. Because of me they allowed work to be done and I can't tell you how thrilled I was that I would have that effect on somebody.
