I majored in Social Work and have had a wonderful 27 year career of working with children, adolescents and the aging. I have worked at UVA hospital where I gained insight into the importance of maintaining good health and how devastating a disease or accident is on one's health and life. I have worked for department of social services and assisted the aging with receiving the services needed to remain in their home or to move into a facility. At this time, I am doing "hands on" care in people's home to assist them with various activities of daily living. My mother was bedridden for many years and I was one of her primary caregivers. I know the burden on family when caring for a loved one and the importance of support. My grandfather lived to be 96 and I was there for him to assist with shopping, meal prep, housekeeping, medication reminders and transportation. I cherish the times that I spent with my mother and grandfather caring for them. I also cherish the support I received from others.

I am a very easy going person. My personality is my best trait. My mother was confined to a wheelchair due to Muscular Dystrophy from the time I was 18 months old until I lost her in 2009. Taking care of her just led to me naturally becoming a caregiver. It's what I know.

I have 20 plus years in the medical field primarily in patient care and really have enjoyed helping and working in my community . I strive to provide the best care possible for my clients and treat everyone with dignity and respect. This is my work but also my passion.

I love working with elderly clients and treat everyone like I would my own family. I volunteered at a nursing home in school and fell in love with it. Caring for others has been a lifelong passion of mine! I'm happiest when helping others, so I find this field of work very rewarding in many ways. I grew up watching my mother learn and be a great nurse so she is definitely my inspiration. What I enjoy most is definitely just making a difference, being able to be there and insert patience and understanding in a situation of discomfort. Many don't understand how hard it can be to accept help when you have always helped others yourself, that's the role of a caregiver.

I began my journey into the Caregiver when my grandmother got sick and I knew it was my calling. I really enjoy being there for others always. I am very patient and very concerned in the happiness and comfortableness of my clients. I follow instructions well and I do like to do a daily journal of my clients day so the family knows all that has happened throughout my day with their loved one.
