My Name is Pearlie, I have always had the caretaker trait since I was around 10 years old. I was the grandkid that wanted to stay in the house and help my grandmother take care of my granddad and the person that want a babysitting job in the summer to help out the family. It make me feel good to do for others when the can't or have no one to help them complete their daily living duties. I became a caregiver at 14 for my grandmother and grandfather, and I fell in love with the work I was doing. After that, I realized that what I wanted to do for the rest of my life was to take care of and help those in need. I am CPR certified by the American Heart Association in infant, child, and adult BLS. I also have experience in the following things: Home Health (5+yrs) All stages of AD (5yrs) Schizophrenia (2+yrs) Mental Disabilities, Behavioral Problems and the alike (5yrs) I believe I would be a great addition to the team.

When I was 19, my Mom was diagnosed with Cancer. Spending much of my time inside hospitals, skilled nursing homes, and at home with Mom, I had an opportunity to see first hand the difference between a truly good Caregiver/CNA and the ones who...weren't so good. I decided that I would get my Certificate so that I could be one of those good ones who truly touched people's lives. I fell in love with the profession, and have been doing this work for almost twenty years since. I truly love having the opportunity to provide the best Care Giving experience possible to all those I care for. One personal achieve I'm most proud of is the time I cleared the airway using the Heimlich Maneuver on a choking patient at a hospital I was working at. Although this particular patient was not assigned to me that day, the CNA caring for her was fresh out of school and panicked when the patient began choking on her breakfast. I was passing the room when I heard the CNA call for help. I recognized immediately that the patient was choking, pulled her into position and did the Heimlich until the food was dislodged. By the time the nurses responded, I had her airway clear and received a round of applause!

I became a caregiver because it fufills my heart, mind , and soul. I get great satisfaction knowing that I can help keep a person safely and comfortably in their home. Meeting new people and their families has given me a lot of knowledge to use for the next job I am fortunate to receive. My years of experience have taught me to have patience and compassion for each person because everybody is different in their own way. I have raised an incredible teenager who is thriving in life. One of the things I am most proud of is that I took care of my mother who was dying of lung cancer. I was the best advocate for her that I could be. I kept her safe and comfortable to live out the last days of her life. I have done a little of everything in the medical field. I have worked in the ER, assisted living, home health and hospice and live in private duty. When I am not working I enjoy reading, camping, and spending time with my family.
