I'm extremely empathetic and compassionate. I want to do whatever I can to comfort and help those in need. Being a caregiver offers the opportunity to share Gods love with others and to make a positive difference in their lives.

I have always been someone who had a heart for others. As a young man that resignated through acts of service, helping others in my neighborhood, through my church, and random people I met along the way. God instilled a gift of caring for my fellow man and he has always placed my in roles where I can use this gift. It wasn't until I was in my 20s where I realized this gift would be well received in the world of medicine and later nursing. I originally thought a career in EMS was where I belonged but it limited my upward mobility and after going through an EMT Basic class I soon realized their were other options available to me. I moved into the hospital environment through a cardiac telemetry position and began learning about inpatient medicine and the many roles nurses play. During my time there I went through a CNA 1 & 2 class and began to realize that nursing was where I would fit in the world of medicine. However, It was my grandmother who cemented the notion in my mind that I would make an amazing nurse. During her last days I was able to spend some time with her; making her conferrable, meeting her needs, caring for her became second nature and I realized in those last moments with her that nursing was where I belong. As you can see I have come full circle in way; starting with the idea that EMS is where I want to be and ending up with a passion for nursing but at an EMS pace in the Emergency Room. I feel at home when I'm working with patients, I look foreword to every shift, and the challenges it provides; because in these challenges I reaffirm my calling to the nursing profession.

I am a very upbeat and happy person. I love to make people smile, laugh and enjoy life. I am kind, patient, dependable, honest, trustworthy, gentle, hard working, intelligent, compassionate, understanding, and have a great sense of humor. I love animals, all of them! My favorite place to be is outdoors, primarily hiking and swimming. I truly enjoy meeting new people. I also love spending time with my family, friends, and pets. I enjoy reading, writing, board and card games, movies, cleaning, cooking. When my fraternal grandmother entered a care home when I was 12, I went to visit her every day. I was shocked to see how many elderly patients had no one who visited them. So I unofficially became a volunteer and would visit other residents; reading to them, talking, playing games, dancing, whatever brought a little joy back into their lives. Caregiving has been a part of my life ever since. I took care of my maternal grandmother who had severe rheumatoid arthritis and Dementia in her home until she passed away. I then moved my mother in with me when she was first diagnosed with Alzheimers and cared for her until her death 10 years later. I also cared for one of my brothers who was diagnosed with end stage Dementia at the age of 58 and passed away right before his 61st birthday. So I completely understand what loved ones must go through as family members become older, sick, or suffer from an injury. What I enjoy most about being a Caregiver is simply helping someone who needs it, especially if it allows them to remain in their own home. A personal achievement that I am proud of is raising such loving, kind, respectful, and amazing children.

From a young age I've been caring for others - siblings, family members, neighbors, in-home childcare and candy-striping. Professionally, I was a Caregiver for a time at a local assisted living facility and entered the world of in-home care in 2019. In-home caregiving fills the needs of my clients but also a need in myself. I've tried other professions but just didn't find it to be as fulfilling. One of my clients who has worked with several care providers over the years told me that I'm just wired for home care. He said that some people do this for work while others do it as in inner calling. I think that fits. I'm a quick learner. I'm patient and attentive. I'm dedicated, reliable, and trustworthy. I'm a clear communicator and a good listener. I have an intuitive side that helps me assess when it's time to slow down or wait. I believe in client-centered care; encouraging independence where possible and gently supporting where not. I truly enjoy this work and have a positive attitude. I've assisted people with advanced disabilities, various forms of dementia, recovering from injuries or surgery, navigating end of life, and those needing help with basic household tasks. Have been a caregiver for 7 years. Was a cna for 5 years and have aquired skills needed to be a caregiver as well as being experienced with different type of people in all walks of life. I love being able to provide care and make someone's day better. Knowing that I made a difference in someone's life is the ultimate blessing.
