Being a caregiver is rewarding it gives me satisfaction and a good feeling to be able to assist elders with things they can no longer do for themselves. I treat them as I would treat my own family members. Treat them with respect and let them know I am there to help them, not take away from their dignity. I like helping others, and I have a great compassion to care for the elderly. I love what I do and it shows in the quality of care I provide. I was 17 years old when I help took care of my aunt who was very ill and when she passed away I knew then I want to take care of others. What I love most of all is helping them to complete their day with what task they have, and making sure they are comfortable and secured. I had a client that had hip surgery and needed physical therapy and I helped them by encouraging and motivating them to keep trying when they may have wanted to give up. The person was able to get back to their normal self after much consistency and determination. That's what made me proud because we did it together.
