I was first introduced to home care when I was a teenager as my grandmother suffered from Breast Cancer,I became her primary caretaker,so upon my 18 th birthday I went ahead and took the CNA/HHA CLASSES.I truly love what I do,it gives me great pleasure caring for someone,also being able to care for someone who needs to be cared for,and wants to enjoy thier last year's in their home.I have been doing this (care taking) for 26 years. Hello, I'm Jennafer. I previously worked for a VA Medical Center as a nurses aid. I loved my job, unfortunately I moved and it was too far in distance. I am CPR certified, and have experience with most common elderly illnesses and diseases. I worked with a lot of patients suffering from either dementia, Alzheimer's, diabetes, urinary, respiratory, cardiopulmonary, restorative, and more. I absolutely enjoy making people happy and being part of people's lives, which is one reason I believe makes me great at care giving. I love to talk and companionship is a big plus for me in the healthcare field. I am very compassionate about the care I provide and I enjoy the friendships I get to make. I am always looking for ways and opportunities to better my skills and care. Just for a little extra info, I do speak some spanish, however not too fluent; I also play several musical instruments in which I got to share music with some of the residents I cared for. I am an excellent worker, friend, and companion and I hope to get the opportunity to show and express it to you and your loved one(s)!

I have 18 years of caregiver experience. I have a CNA for about 15 years. I started caring for folks because back in Africa, we care for our family members so it has been something in my nature to care for people. When I care for elderly folks, I treat them as if they were my family members. I've worked with all types of senior patients. Most patients have conditions of stroke, dementia, mentally challenged patients, cancer patient, hospice etc.

I do this job because of my passion I love interacting with people taking care of people and having conversation with people who just can't do anything for the self in that way I feel I am blessed to be able to help someone who is not able to do something for yourself it's not all about the money it's the passion and love that I have for this job

A little about me I live takeing care of people who just need an extra hand or just want someone to talk to I like be able to help people. My grandmother is a big reason I become a caregiver I watched her for years struggle with Parkinson's an slight dementia and all I wanted to do was help I tried to help her but she was determined to do it herself but she knew I was right by her side if she needed an extra hand.

Not only do I have an excellent record for an outstanding caregiver, I am also a very calm person with a grateful heart and a smile as big as the sun which for about 20 years have brought joy and made an impact on many families I have worked with and clients I have cared for. Growing up in a Christian home back in Ghana, I was raised to treat others as I will expect to be treated. What attracted me most to become a caregiver was the man I grew up to love and called my dad. My stepfather was a gentle, respectful and a peaceful man who loved me and treated me as his own.. In his late 70's while I was already in the United states, he was diagnosed with Alzheimers and became the opposite of what we knew him to be. With zero ideas on how to care for him, I intensified my search on caring for patients with Alzheimers and dementia , I took a class through the state of Massachusetts at the Notre dame learning center in Worcester. In doing this, I was able to educate my family back home on how to better his care. What I am most proud of being a caregiver is hearing stories about what a client had been through in life with either their success, achievement, accomplishments, battles with diseases etc. and the patients will to live. Knowing that both the client and their family are trusting me completely with the care of their loved one towards the end of life and that beautiful THANK YOU CARD with words of appreciation and gratitude I receive from the family when my work is done brings me lots of joy knowing I did it RIGHT. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is becoming good friends with my client by adopting their likes and seeing contentment in their eyes knowing that they are comfortable and safe with me around or When we make dinner together with minimal help from them yet it gives them a sense of living or when we race each other to answer question on jeopardy. or on a not so happy day when I still find a way to put a smile on their face .

I am a very sociable person with great compassion and passion of giving care.I am graduating next Monday as an Licenced practical Nurse. With my transition from a home health Aide to a Practical Nurse I have received vast knowledge ,skills and experience in the field which improves my quality of care .I am gifted with patience ,understanding and kindness which everyone admires and commends me for.Out of a personal experience,I drew the passion to give to care having being the only able person available to take care of my ailing grandmother with a terminal illness till her final days.It brought out a side of compassion and empathy in me I didn't know existed and it boosted my spirit of continuing with my nursing career for a lifetime.I enjoy when I am able to meet my goals of client interaction benefits and wellness,getting to interact with clients of all walks of nature and sharing appropriate lifetime experiences with my clients and bringing out the best in them.A moment I am really proud of is during my clinical experience in a particular nursing home,I was the only one as a student who was able to use therapeutic communication to bring back a patient who was buried in depression over loss of a significant other.Through talk compassion and a lot of understanding,I helped the patient open up,talk his heart out,start eating again as well as take medications again of which he had completely refused after learning of the loss of the significant other.Family is forever grateful for that deed.I am a certified Home Health Aide,CPR and First Aid certified,I am also a certified Mandated reporter.
