I've been in the medical field for over 25 years half of that I was employed at McLaren Hospital in the Heart Unit as a cardiac Tech /CNA .The last 10 years I have worked in home / hospice care and that is when I truly found my calling ,I absolutely love it .I am loyal, honest and definitely dependable and we all know how important that is when looking for a care giver. Surprisingly enough, in caring for my mom and pastor's mom the last 18 months of their lives, I found I'm very patient with the elderly. Both women had dementia as well. Doing crafts or something creatively "fun" was enjoyable. There is SOO much need for the elderly! My heart goes out to them, especially those who don't have family or their family lives far away. I'm an extrovert who loves to laugh. It's important to find the humor in life. It's also important to help the person retain their dignity, especially if incontinent, which can be humiliating to the patient. After caring for both women, they both died within 3 months of each other. I had quit my job to care for my mom full time and home health was an easy segue back into working full time. I enjoy getting to know new people and hearing their "story" as everyone has a story. I play the piano and saxophone, and my patients always lived hearing one or the other. I'm pretty laid back and easy going.

I have 30+ years in home health care with the last 12yrs specializing in spinal cord injury, ventilator, tracheotomy, wound care and hospice. I also have hospital experience, as well as, working with the Alzheimer, dementia, and mentally disabled. Along the way, I also had the pleasure of picking up the ability to learn and communicate with American Sign Language. I am passionate about my career because I love meeting the needs of each client I come in contact with. They teach me about who I am and Why I love my career and able to do what I love to do. I am available Monday through Friday. I prefer 24 hr shifts. Willing to travel up to 2 hours aways for longer shifts.

I'm loving caring giving encouraging I believe in being a solution to a problem. My passion is to help people rather is to just cheered them up give them some encouraging words maybe even a smile. I lost my mom 3 1/2 years ago and then going through that process it definitely enlighten me and encouraged me to want to give back and help seniors and older people in our community it was a great experience, tough but great experience and what I like most about being a caregiver is just making a difference in somebody else's life making them smile. Just knowing somebody else is there my personal achievement is being able to be there for my mom it meant a lot .

Hello, I go by Lay for simplicity. I have been a caregiver for about 6, almost 7 years now on and off. I was a CNA for about 4 years of that time and then did a little MA and home health in other areas. For the most part, I love giving care and companionship to those in need. It's more of a rewarding feeling knowing your helping make someone's day better and in some cases, it's the little things that count. Truly believe that caregiving is not just a job, it's a calling.
