Hello, my name is Kimberly and I have been a caregiver, companion or sitter for over 30 years now and I believe that patience is a necessity in this field, and it is one thing that has helped me be a great caregiver. My siblings and I was raised by my grand-aunt while at the same time she was caring for us, she was also the primary caregiver for her mother, which was our grandmother. My aunt took care of my grandmother without any outside help, because back then there were no agencies that would come to the home and render care, just as there were no adult disposable briefs, just cloth. My aunt took care of my grandmother at home until she passed away at 100 years old. Thats what attracted me to being a caregiver. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is letting those who I care for know, that they are important and valued. I enjoy making those I care for feel comfortable and relaxed. I really enjoy it when I can get a gut laugh or at least a smile once a day, because laughing is healing. Overall, what I truly enjoy most about being a caregiver is the rewarding feeling that I get when I know that I have made someone's day a little brighter, because I never know when that day comes, when I will need the same in return, so it humbles me. The personal achievement that I am most proud of is when my aunt received a diagnoses of Alzheimer's and I without hesitation quit my job to take care of my aunt at home full-time. I gave her the same loving and compassionate care that I witnessed her give to my grandma. I took care of my aunt without help, for the last 12 years of her life until she passed away at 101 years old, at home. That is my highly valued personal achievement that I am most proud of in life because, I did it!

Good with elders, cleaning and organizing is my best skill. Basic medical knowledge is known. I'm home health certified, spent last 5 years dealing with a client that really needed a nursrying home. But those were his wishes. To this day he's still alive!!

I got in to the caregiver field when my mother was sick and I seen how everyone cared for her, so I wanted to always be there to care for someone else. I'm very honest, dependable, caring, reliable and hardworking.

I have been. Medical Assistant for 25 years working I doctors offices. I have always had that personality that want a to help someone else, so I became a caregiver about 5 years ago and love it. Both of my aunts had breast cancer a year apart I took them to chemo and to all of their appointments, they are both in remission now, so I would say that was my personal achievement was being there with them and was able to get them through the worst times of their lives.

As a growing child, watching my grandmother die made me feel helpless and terribly sad. I felt i could have tried to stop her from dying, but how much could an eight year old girl have done. That pain was not wasted as it spurred in me the desire to help other sick people recover and not die. That was how my desire to become a caregiver started. My desire was to obtain a degree in nursing and start from there. I pursued it and had just my senior year in the BSN program to finish up before i was unjustly removed from the program for a reason that is yet to be explained to me. It happened during the summer break, after i had successfully concluded my junior year. It could not do much as an international student, since the verdict came close to the resumption of a new semester, as delaying to switch major would make me drop out of status with the immigration. I had to transfer my hours to General Studies just to graduate. Even though i lost that degree, my skills learned are still with me. I have also obtained a CNA certification just to help me remain in care-giving until i am able to go back to get my RN licensure. Being a caregiver is my calling, so i am not giving that up. My personality is very persevering, goal-oriented, compassionate, empathetic, detail-oriented, with good judgment, with good work ethics, treat people with respect and dignity, etc. I remember that whenever i deliver care to patients and residents., they compliment my thoroughness & attention to detail. I hope to find a opportunity here to keep builing my skills. I am illing to relocate to anywhere and have work authorization.
