I had my own daycare for 20 years. I been taking care of children since my first brother was born when I was 6. Other people's children at age 13, newborn and a 12-year-olds. I have always loved taking care of the elderly. You have to have the heart. I started out by being there for my mom until she left me. Then when I lossed her I said why not take care of others. I feel being a caregiver just comes natural for me, I have always loved helping others and working in the health care field. I like knowing that at the end of the day I have made life a little better and easier for someone who can no longer or never has been able to do the everyday task that we { Healthy People } sometimes take for granted. A personal achievement I am proud of is going back to school at almost the age of 40 and graduating with a certificate in Phlebotomy and then working 8 yrs in that field all while raising two small girls. I am a 48 year woman who has successfully raised two beautiful daughters and I am now a Grandmother to my beautiful one year old granddaughter and soon expecting another grandchild. I am a christian , non- smoker and I love animals. I believe in giving the kind of care I would want for one of my loved ones and even myself one day.

If I discribed myself to someone I would say I'm a giver. I've worked in the medical field for 30 years and loved every minute of it. Most of my life I worked in a physician office doing stress test and lab work. I started sitting with hospice patients five years ago as well as elderly that just needed assistance and a friend. I'm patient, a good listener and qualified. My degree is in respiratory therapy but working in a primary care office has taught me to be good at many general skills that have benifitted my work as a caregiver.

I'm very reliable and I'm a great help and I'm willing to give a helping hand. What attracted me to being a caregiver was being able to help out my grandmother and helping her out with tasks that she needs assistants with and just being there. I love helping out my grandmother a lot and being a helping hand for her when she needs it and I also enjoy the time I get to spend with her. I'm very proud of the fact that I get to help my grandmother out with the things she needs and just being there for her.
