My name is ShelbyJo. I have 11+ years of hospitality experience with hotels and restaurants, but after years of feeling unfulfilled, I returned to school and began to transition into healthcare in 2019. I have a certification of completion for CNA school as well as previous CPR certification. I have been a child caregiver for 8+ years and working with elderly with disabilities for the past 2+ years. I'm very passionate about serving and helping others reach their fullest potential!

I am very out going, friendly and polite. I am a excellent cook, frugal shopper, excellent Organizational skills, and pay attention to details. Everything I do in a day is within time management making sure all my patients needs are met. Generally everyone finds me cheerful, upbeat and easy to get along with during my visits.

I am patient and am able to read people well. I can balance the need for independence and need for care. My approach is to provide dignity and respect. I am adaptable and not afraid of a challenge. I have compassion and empathy and insight into others needs for privacy. I enjoy caregiving because it plays to my strengths and I am often enlightened by those I care for. I always look forward to learning something new about each individual I care for. I am observant, I listen closely to instruction and respect family member's wishes while only giving my insight and advice when asked for. When I am not sure what to do, I ask for support from well respected colleagues. People tell me I have a peaceful, calming presence that puts people at ease.

I have been a caregiver/provider or volunteer in the medical field since I was 10. I enjoy providing companionship and medical to all ages. I enjoy taking care of others. Knowing that I provided each individual with the best quality of care possible for that time in their journey. What attracted me to being a care giver is the enormous need in our country today, I cared for my own grandmother in her 90's, and realized there is just not enough of us out there. I have always been close to my elderly family as a young child .As I got older I would volunteer with my friends family to help them and I took care of my Uncle Rudy after his stroke .This is when I New my next calling after his passing was to continue to help the Senior in my community as I have now for HISC for going on 5 yrs.I am very compassionate and they come first,Family's have asked for me by name after having me once they ask for me to be their care giver. I'm always a half hr, early so not to be late , I have a 100 percent respect from my bosses Buck and Tonya Shaw the owners of HISC Buck said I'm the whole package. I am trustworthy, honest , never call in unless I go to Dr, and they say with note I'm contagious. I work wonderful with others , team player,I speed walk every night I'm in great health, Mother of two adult daughters, I just got Divorced , my choice Thank you. And just moved in with my oldest daughter here in Jackson ,She just recently became a widow and asked me to live up here with her .
