My biggest passion is caring and helping people in need. It is a very fulfilling and important part of my life. When I'm not working, I spend my leisure time kayaking, walking/hiking, reading, being creative and taking care of myself and my home. I work full-time as nursing assistant at DHMC for 12 years and 5 years as a nutrition assistant. My 2 amazing children are in the teen. I want to help out my community. Hello, my name is Laura and I am 31. I have a wonderful husband and we have 2 children. T. is 12 and B. is 8. I have a diverse back ground with elderly care and child care, and am looking for clients. When I was a child my mother had an in home daycare and she also took care of my grandfather who had MS. From an early age I was introduced to both child care and elderly care and realized that I had a passion to help people. I have worked in a nursing home, had a private daycare, and most recently worked privately in a home assisting a 92-year-old who was unable to walk. I have experience with a multitude of things and am willing to learn. I believe in the golden rule; treat everyone, how you want to be treated. I've been a caregiver since I was 18 years old. I took care of people with special needs. I started nursing school when I was 20 years old. I graduated when I was 24 years old. I was a nurse for 15 years and then my grandmother got sick and I became her caregiver. I believe a caregiver is there to do anything for the person that they care for. Anything to put a smile on their face. I've taken care of babies with trachs. I've taken care of seniors with dementia. And I've also learned that you take care of the person and the family.

I've worked with children and my 95 year old great grandmother. I am now working with a wonderful 87 year old woman. I have cpr/first aid certificate and basic life support certified. I'm passionate about what I do and will help in anyway I can.

I've worked with the elderly for about eight years.When my father was admitted to a nursing home and I witnessed how he was cared for I developed a passion to try and make a difference working with the elderly to give them better care.
