I have spent 27 years as a caregiver. I am a special education teacher and have taught/taken care of infants, preschoolers, K-12 and most recently my elderly father who was very frail with Dementia. I took him out of a full time care facility in CA to have him live with us on our farm here in KY. His favorite thing to do was to help feed the animals or socialize our animal babies. I thrive when taking care of others and I absolutely loved taking care of my dad, even though he wasn't necessarily the same dad that I knew growing up. He was very vulnerable and self conscious about his difficulties and I did everything I could to make him feel like we needed him here to help on the farm.

I first became a CNA when I was 17. The DON said I had the heart of a caregiver which cannot be taught. This has stuck with me throughout my healthcare career. Compassion seems to be a lost art these days. Hi, my name is Tana Taylor. I am a mature person with experience in both human & veterinary medical fields. I graduated from Fugazzi College with an associate's degree of applied science in medical assisting with a 4.0 gpa. My major/minor also included medical transcription, & I have extensive education & experience with various aspects of human psychology. I love animals & am a huge animal advocate, very involved with TNR for unowned, free-roaming stray & feral community cats. I also like many types of music & performing arts & have taken part in live performances in the past. 30+ years experience includes a medical clinic which housed primary care, urgent care, & occupational care, various veterinary front office as well as veterinary assisting prn, hospital HIM tech/medical records (St Thomas Nashville), hospital unit secretary (Cookeville Regional Medical Center), consistent exceptional customer service in every job I have ever held, client education (vet clinics & spay/neuter clinics), cashier (Walmart), administrative assistant , front office receptionist various jobs & front desk/night auditor at motel, retail customer service & assistant manager (SuperPetz & PetSmart), & prn/limited pharmacy (Eckerd). Since February 2023 most recently working with Pacesetters providing in home direct support for 3 ladies with levels of need 2-3 (walker, wheelchair, oxygen, nebulizer, cpap) currently working 12 hour overnight shifts. The ladies are able to do their own bathing & toileting, but I sometimes need to assist one of them with getting dressed. I am not comfortable dealing with other people's nudity & hygiene tasks on a regular, every day basis. I did have to do so recently after one of the ladies fell & broke some bones in one of her hands up until she was completely healed. I am a compassionate person who wants to make a positive difference in the daily lives of other people & animals. I am conscientious, honest, dependable, empathetic, calm, kind, & intuitive.

One of my strongest personality traits as a caregiver is the ability to listen and help when a patient is feeling in distress or overwhelmed and just help calm them down and find a compromising solution that helps everyone Attracted me to being a caregiver was I grew up with a brother that was special needs and I really did not like the way that his caregiver treated him so I wanted to make sure that other people were treated fairly and help as much as I could Enjoy being a caregiver is being able to give my patience the best quality life I can give them and just remind them that they are human and they deserve to be treated as such My personal was a client who refused to go out into the community wear short sleeves or shorts even in 90deg weather and was just a total shut in and after working with him for about a year, we got him to go to the pool in the summer in a swim shirt short and he socialized the whole day
