I majored in Social Work and have had a wonderful 27 year career of working with children, adolescents and the aging. I have worked at UVA hospital where I gained insight into the importance of maintaining good health and how devastating a disease or accident is on one's health and life. I have worked for department of social services and assisted the aging with receiving the services needed to remain in their home or to move into a facility. At this time, I am doing "hands on" care in people's home to assist them with various activities of daily living. My mother was bedridden for many years and I was one of her primary caregivers. I know the burden on family when caring for a loved one and the importance of support. My grandfather lived to be 96 and I was there for him to assist with shopping, meal prep, housekeeping, medication reminders and transportation. I cherish the times that I spent with my mother and grandfather caring for them. I also cherish the support I received from others.

I have 20 plus years in the medical field primarily in patient care and really have enjoyed helping and working in my community . I strive to provide the best care possible for my clients and treat everyone with dignity and respect. This is my work but also my passion.

I have experience in Palliative, Alzheimers, Parkinsins, Cancer, end of life, and Companion care. I became an educated caregiver after taking care of my father, sister, and grandmother in their final stages. It showed me the need for experienced, thoughtful, and caring people in the lives of not just the sick/ elderly, but also their families during that time. I am 54 years old and will be married for 18 years on May 26th. I am mother of 2 boys and 1 girl. I have two grandchildren; one boy whose 4 years old and a granddaughter who is 3 years old. I've work most of my life in the office environment since graduating high school. I recently transitioned to caregiving for seniors a couple of years ago and I love it. I love working with seniors because they have so much insight on this journey called life. I've learned so much about patience and kindness from them. I've also learned how important it is to listen. They're just really cool individuals who wants love and affection. I like making someone smile and doing little things to make a person's day a little better. I hope that when I get older, someone like myself will be there to help me if I need help.

I treat the patients as if it was my family. I love to sit and listen to stories that they have to tell about back when they were growing up. If you sit and listen to the elderly they can teach you a lot of stuff. I enjoy spending time with them. If they like to listen to music I will put that on for them. If they would like to go outside then I will be more than happy to keep them active.
