I became a Cna at 17 years old when my Great Grandmother decided she would not stay home with us, not wanting to burden family. I decided that one of us needed to go to her then and went to Job Corp got my Ged and Cna before my Highschool class graduated. I then took my first job at Parkview Nursing and Rehab in Waterloo, Iowa . In 1998 my grandpa was diagnosed with Parkinson's We kept him home as long as we could and then I went to work at Country View where he was first placed due to memory problems. He ended up back home ! We cared for him until he suffered a fall ( very common in Parkinson's ) at that time Caring for the elderly in a loving, respectful and life enriching way no matter the illness/ ability is my goal!
