I enjoy bringing a smile to my clients by attending to all their activities of daily living. Such as safe surroundings, hygiene, meal prep and just being there for them. It has been a rewarding career since 1988.

I love helping people! I was in the health care field throughout my adult life. From in home care to rehab facilities. I come from a family of nurses and emergency responders.

I would be a great caregiver because I am a good worker, I love my job and the people. I had been working in this field since I was 21 and now I'm 53 and I still carry the same passion that I had from when I started. When I take care of someone I take care of them like they were my own family.

What makes me a great caregiver? I love people and just knowing am able to give back to my elders is amazing. I enjoy reading, travel and good conversations. I really like to learn from people especially seniors. I enjoy hearing stories and life experiences and I like to help people do what they need to do safely, with a little pampering along the way. I feel that I've done well when people tell me that they feel well cared for and safe around me. I assist people be and do their best and use words only when necessary. Because of my passed experience with Alzheimer's and Dementia, I pay close attention to the person's spoken and unspoken needs and try to accommodate without overwhelming the person but making sure the most important things to them/family are done.

As a caregiver, I am responsible for the well being of others and/or the patient I am taking care of. I have a nurturing desire to help those in need. One of the characteristics that make me a good caregiver is empathy. With empathy, I am able to get a personal connection/understanding of my patient which is vital. With empathy, my patient can create a sense of calamity and trust for those being cared for. Another characteristic is patience. You must have patience to care for your patient. Your patient may not be self-sufficient enough to express themselves which can lead to outburst and frustrations. Reliability is essential to being caregiver. Your patient relies and depends on your care. I love caring for others that can't care for themselves. "It's very rewarding to know that you are making a positive difference in someone's life."
