Receiving a Caregiver of the Year award made me feel good inside, not because I received the award, but because that told me I was making a different.

I've been a very caring person my whole life which makes me an excellent caregiver. I take my assignments serious and have been a CNA for three years. I've worked in geriatrics, rehabilitation, and pediatrics. I have a passion for helping people that need to be helped. I am very proud to be currently in nursing school .

What makes me a great caregiver is I don't do my job for the money of it. I do my job because of the passion and love I have to help people. I feel that caring for someone who can't always care for themselves is a blessing and also a chance at making a difference in their life as well. I choose to become a caregiver because I lost my grandparents at an early age both my grandmother's at the age of 12, one of my grandfather's at the age of 18 and the other one past before I was born so I kind of grown attach to others and think of them as one of my own grandparents. May sound odd but that's where I find comfort working with the elderly mostly. I also have a son that has a learning disability, as well as behavior problems so I can understand and also have the patients to deal with people with disabilities. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is putting a smile on all my clients faces and showing them the amount of love and compassion that I do. Letting them know that they are what matters to me the most. My personal achievement that I am proud of is becoming a Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA), Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) and now I am currently working on becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

It has always been seemingly imminent that I was to be a caregiver; Moreover, there was never any thought or option to be anything else. I passionately love caring for people. I believe that I have a moral obligation to do so; On account of, witnessing neglect, abuse and all manners of degradation to the vulnerable and helpless elderly. Moreover, this mistreatment was procured by the very people whom were entrusted with their care. I am (with no ego) most proud of the fact that, I am ethical. Ethics, in my opinion, is a most important standard to uphold at all times. By virtue of; it is their right, as well as their entitlement. Accordingly, I am guarded and take pains to ensure that all patients are treated with the love, care, respect and dignity that they all deserve. However, I have seen far too much degradation and humiliation, carried out by incompetant and certainly shameful healthcare workers. Therefore, I desperately want to be there for all patients and to make a positive difference in their lives. I am extremely committed, discreet, loyal and prudently assure they receive the proper care. Lastly, I always go over and beyond my call of duties.
