I took care of my sick mother until she passed away. Later, a friend introduced me to the field of caregiving. Though I had formerly been a school teacher, caregiving fit like a glove. A client once asked me why I chose this profession, and I told her that I wanted to make a difference in people's lives. I offer personal care, housekeeping services, and companionship. When my client was dying, I held her hand the entire time, not knowing that the daughter had entered the room and observed my action. After her death I received a note from the daughter describing how she had been touched by my action. As a former teacher, I am punctual, compassionate, empathetic, and sentimental; I laugh and cry with my clients. My current job involves caring for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes. I have recently been providing a client with personal hygiene in the morning through CareLinx.

I'm a patient and compassionate person, I love to be around elderly. They are very smart and full of wisdom. I feel like I'm the lucky one to be with them and help them through this step of life. Even when they rejected me, I never took it personal and tried to understand them. I have been taking care of my mother in law for 6 years and I'm happy and proud to say that caregiving is a big personal accomplishment, and I'm proud of my resourcefulness, flexibility and determination.

As a care giver, what makes me a great is rendering a satisfactory care to clients and also making sure I met their goals per their plan of care. I love helping/assisting people reach their goals and what I enjoyed most about being a caregiver is putting a smile on my patients face at the end of my shift. Am proud of making clients have positive thoughts about life/ living basing on conditions they thought they shouldn't have been in. Again changing some negative perceptions towards caregivers based on their previous experience with other caregivers.

I became a care giver because I love to make people smile and provide wonderful memories for a beautiful life. I have worked alongside hospice nurses caring for terminally ill patients. I've been a caregiver for 15 years providing private, in home care. My clients become family to me and I have loved each one dearly. I am reliable and have empathy and compassion for others. I love to help clients and family members and have been told that this is one of my greatest strengths . I also can give medication and do light housecleaning.
