I become a caregiver beacuse I love working with people and I work with my mom and brother before they pass away and I know and understand how hard it would be on the person who is caring for their love one,and I like that the person whom am caring for can count on me to be there for them and will always look out for them and put them first always.My bigest achievement is watching someone went from I can't do it to am doing it( which mean I work on a case when the person could not walk again and he did not want to do his exercise and I would explain to him everyday I work with him that if he want to do most of the things he say he missed doing and like doing he will have to do his exercise everyday and he will see that he could walk again, and I tell him that everyday and get him to trust me and I got him to walk again and to me that was big. i'm 36 years old and a mother of two and I love to work with people and I have 16 years of managers exeperance and customer serive, and I had also manager three group homes and one of them I was the live-in house manger and I love that for I would get to hire the persons that I know who would love what we do just as I love what I do, and would not mined treating our client as part of the family.

I have been in the caregiving field for over five years. I too have taken on the responsibility of taking care of loved ones until they passed away. I believe you have to have a special gift to be a caregiver and I definitely have been blessed to have that gift. I have successfully completed a training program and state examination at Morning Star Academy-School of Allied Health in Rockville, MD in 2012. Outside of homecare, my hobbies include taking care of my 3 yo son, practicing special effects makeup, painting and drawing. Previously, I worked in long-term care facilities located in Virginia. I have been working in homecare consistently since 2015. My experience in homecare has been rewarding and less stressful. I love working closely with families and clients to make sure their care and companionship needs are met. I am able to adapt quickly to different working environments. I firmly believe in providing compassionate care to enhance the quality of life for an individual. As a former employee of Snakemans Tattoo Studio I learned the importance of sterilization, blood borne pathogen safety, and customer service. I also learned the value of communication, critical thinking skills, time management, and teamwork while working as a CNA at Golden Living Center and Shenandoah Valley Westminster Canterbury (SVWC). Iam great caregiver because I like to keep elderly motivated, push temperature to do things that they may think is impossible for them to achieve. Being a caregiver was not my intention but at the age of 18 I volunteered at Sunrise assisted living, from there I fell in love with learning more about Dementia that progress with age. I started my career as a caregiver at the age of 16, my first job was at a nursing home, this was before having to be certified. All trainig was on the job. In 1980 I recieved my first certification as a Geriactic aide. In 1990 I recieved my certification as Certified Nursing Certificate. I had a child with special needs in 1985, I started working with people with disabilities, I worked with ARC for 26 years. I view caregiving as not only a job, but also as a gift from God. love helping people. I am a Christian, I teach Sunday school . I recieved a certificate in alchohol and drug addiction in 2017. My desire is to start a support group at my church.

I think what makes me a great caregiver is the feeling that i feel within me that i am helping someone at a time in their lives when they need it,the act of promoting independence and self-esteem gives me pleasure. I also consider it a blessing to care for the elderly.I became a caregiver because i enjoy helping people,especially those who need it the most. I decided that i would like to help people who need help taking care of their loved ones or themselves,by taking care of them exactly the way i would like my own mother to be taken care of.The most rewarding thing about being a caregiver for me is knowing i helped someone who was in need to the best of my ability. I became a caregiver because I love to help people who can't either help themselves or needs assistance. Also because at the age of 14 I became my mother's caregiver along with my sister and grandmother until I was old enough to take care of my mother on my own for 9 years. What I like about being a caregiver is I know at the end of the day when I go home I have done my job and have made my resident and family happy. It does my heart good when the person and family I care for tell me "thank you". My personal achievement that I'm proud of is that I have learned a lot of different things about being a caregiver such as, womb care, medication, transferring just to name a few. My current job is working on the ICU unit of a hospital so i have gained a lot more experience in the medical field.
