Hello, I've been a CNA for 18 years and love every bit of it. I love taking care of people and being able to provide companionship to people. I am always positive and upbeat. I'm dependable. I love the fact that I'm appreciated and I like the feeling I get that I've helped someone who needs me. I would like to open my own personal care home one day.

I am 22 years old. I graduated from North Carolina Central University with my Bachelors in Criminal Justice. I found a passion for working with the elderly when I took on the role I have now with RSI. Not just caring for them, but I loved seeing me make an impact on their lives. I love that they wait for me at the door when I'm coming into work & how much they love to be around me. I am young and I love the fact that I can help the older generation with my bright personality and attitude. I am really proud of teaching one of my nonverbal residents sign language. He now can sign a couple phrases to communicate with me.

I was the caregiver/caretaker for both of my parents. In the beginning, my mom had several, health issues. I thought at the time, I would get involve and take her to her doctors appointments and learn all I could to encourage and to better able to assist her, in living healthier. So we changed her diet and I helped her in preparing meals and other activities. Several years later, my mom was diagnosed with dementia. I didn't know then, the rolls of mother and daughter would change. For the next 18 years, I became her full-time caregiver. Although; it was extremely overwhelming at times, I knew no one would ever take care of mom like I would. Moreover; my personal achievement in taking care of her and preparing meals; she did not succumb to any of the complications of diabetes, which happens to many people with the disease. Although my dad didn't have as many health issues as my mom, he was older. He didn't have dementia and he lived to the age of 94. I'm dependable, patient and very compassionate. I am very patient, trustworthy and dependable. I enjoy helping the clients and try to make a difference in their life. Most of my clients have been elderly persons and I have always enjoyed being in their presence. A personal achievement as a caregiver is providing the very best care possible and seeing them get well and making and overall difference in their life.

I like to have full conversation with people to help me get to know them better. Being in the caregiver field I have learned great communication skills. I am the oldest daughter of 2 younger siblings and I have always been there to help my single mother take care of them and my grandmother and ever since I can remember, taking care of others is something that just comes naturally to me. What I enjoy the most about being a caregiver is being able to learn about my client by getting to know them by having conversations. This helps me better when taking care of my clients. A personal achievement I am proud of is taking the next steps in my goals to having my own business.

I am a cheerful, engaging, understanding, positive and loving individual. I have a great heart of compassion, empathy and love to help those in need. It warms my heart to know that I am able to add joy, comfort and a sense of peace in individuals lives that I care for. I have been in the healthcare field for 16 years, I have been blessed with a special gift of being a natural nurturer. When I was 14 years old I helped my mom care for my grandmother who was paralyzed and nonverbal, she required total care. That experience was my introduction into the healthcare field. Just as in my first experience, today I still get a rewarding feeling to know that I am able to have a positive impact in the lives of those who are in need. In my personal journey I've learned it's not about finding myself, it's about creating who I'm designed to be.
