For the past 9 years I was a Personal Caregiver for a 98 year old elderly woman with errands, paperwork, Dr. appointments,and grocery shopping. I also helped an elderly man in his 80's with Parkinson's for 1 1/2 years. During that time I was responsible for medication management, wound care, bathing, personal grooming, dressing, meal prep, feeding if needed, house cleaning, and laundry. I have been certified here from The Care Academy for being a Professional Caregiver, Preventing Falls In Older Adults, and 5 different categories for Alzheimer's and Dementia . I currently drive an elderly woman with Dementia to Daycare 2 days per week her daughter hired me, and gave me a 5-star rating on care.com so I have excellent references. I have over 10 yrs of experience and the health Field. I am a CNA and was HHA, I enjoy helping people young and old with any disabilities or aging life changes. I have always liked people and helped others. I been a caregiver on and off for over 30 years. I have taken care of many people like they were my own family. For the last three years I have been with a wonderful lady who pass on her 102 birthday and her daughter who will be moving to an independent living on Oct 1. Growing up in a family of medical professionals overseas I surely thought that one day I would become a nurse. After watching my aunt take care and aid the sick in her home, I knew I wanted to become more hands-on with patients. While still in high school, I began working at a local hospital, helping out with medical records and little jobs as needed around the hospital. Being surrounded on a daily basis by this kind of environment also empowered me to be able to care for my own grandmother which is why I decided to become a caregiver.

I have always wanted to be in the medical field, but what inspired me to want to work with the elderly, is after loosing my grandmother due to improper care. What makes me a great caregiver is my humble attitude, patience, communication skills, honesty and sympathy for others.
