About me: My name is Nichole Dabney. I go by Nicky. I have been a service provider and care taker for over 6 years now. I have been liscened Independent Provider with the Department of Developmental Disabilities for over 6 years now. In addition to that, I also teach high school. This is my 2nd year of teaching at Liberty High School. When you love what you do it's not considered work. I got into this field after spending many years of caring for my Mother who was also wheel chair bound. It only seemed right to contine down this path even after she passed on. I think this is something that comes naturally to me. I wear many hats, but Mom is by far my favorite job of them all. I have two beautiful children whom I Love dearly and they are my number one supporters and fans. I am grateful for the opportunity to work in my gifts. I believe that everything and everyone has purpose. Mines is to be a servant to God's people.

I have always know I wanted to be in the Healthcare field; since I was a little girl. I also love helping people. I love making people feel good. Whether it's a "huge" favor or just giving them a compliment; it makes me feel good. I am a former STNA, presently working as a caregiver. Spending time with my clients. I try to have good relationships with my clients. I enjoy spending time with them; getting to know them and helping them. What is a personal achievement you are proud of? Getting my degree! I worked long and hard to earn it!

Hello! My name is Melani I've been a caregiver for as long as I can remember but i've been working professionally for 10 years. I am now recently working at one of the top ranking hospitals in my area and looking to switch my environments from hospital care to in-home care. I feel that I am a great caregiver because I am patient, understanding, a great listener, compassionate, and very caring. I believe in treating people the way I want to be treated. I am a positive person, I love to smile, and laugh. I am also trustworthy, supportive, and encouraging. When I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma Cancer (Stage 5) 6 years ago, my one and only Caregiver by the name of Barbara, was the absolute best. She took very good care of me, and was such a joy to have around. One day I told her that when I get better, I was going to become a Caregiver too because she was such an inspiration and blessing to me and my family. I am a natural born nurturer, and I love taking care of people. It gives me such a fulfillment in my spirit to know that I did something that day to make someone's life a little easier. I am proud of the fact that I was able to complete my courses to become a Certified Nurses Assistant 2 years ago, and I plan to go back to become State Tested to enhance my skills and knowledge in this particular field.

I go above and beyond when it comes to being compassionate with residents. I love helping others who have a hard time helping themselves. I have a soft spot in my heart for helping people when they are in need, makes me feel good about life and puts things in proper perspective. I have had three great years in this field especially when it comes to the Alzheimer's and dementia residents.

I'm a great caregiver because I'm compassionate. I take the time to listen, have good one on one bedside manners. When I decided to become a caregiver is when I would see my aunt disrespect my granny, and I would say I will never do that. So I wanted to make a difference in people lives. Be there for them when they didn't have anyone to lean on, cry on, or just have a nice good conversation.

In the Spring of 1994 I realized that taking care of those in need of healthcare services was my calling! And now, 21 years later I still find true joy in taking care of others! To feel as though I have impacted someone else's life in a positive manner is extremely gratifying. My colleagues would best describe me as an extremely reliable, kind, and empathetic caregiver with good moral fiber. I truly enjoy working with diverse geriatric populations and find that my work is quite rewarding. The stories of yesterday coupled with the wisdom that comes with aging gracefully are just a few of the perks obtained from working with the elderly.
