I became a caregiver beecause I like working with the elderly and the disabled community. After going to school to become a medical assistant, I didn't believe that I was making the same impact on the lives of others as I had once done. I love being a caregiver. This is the only job I have had where I can see the direct and immediate effects of my job performance. It feels good to hear from my clients family, friends, and primary care physician that Mrs. Smith looks good today, or Mr. Johnson has been looking rather happy over the past few month's. The one thing I'm very proud of is, the increase of hours that I was able to get for a client who had recently had a stroke accompanied with beginning stages of dementia. The In Home Supportive Services Agency were decreasing hours in 2014 due to the budget cuts in California. With help from my clients Primary Care Physician, in slightly over two years we were able to get my client an increase of hours from 45 hours a month to 187 hours a month. I'm a hard worker who loves making a difference. I love taking care of our most seasoned vetrans of life. I am a fun loving down to earth person who believes laughter fuels the heart and feels the soul. My mission everyday is to make my client smile at least once a day even if they're not at his or her peak.
