I have been a CNA for 8 years, worked in a facility for 2.5 years and then for hospice for almost 6 years. I took care of my Dad the last three years of his life before going on to be a CNA. It brought me great joy to take care of him, knowing he was clean, happy, and comfortable. I wouldn't trade that time for anything. Working in healthcare has always been something I have been very compassionate about since highschool, after helping take care of my grandfather for 2 years. After that I knew healthcare was going to be something I spent the rest of my life doing and I have enjoyed it ever since, What I enjoy most about working as a caregiver is the bond I get to build with each of my clients and there family which truly enhances the care they receive as it helps me learn everything they like, don't like and exactly how they like things done and set up, and leaves room for open communication from the client and the family. Hi all, My name is Lindsay McShane and I'm a recent graduate from Oregon State University. I majored in kinesiology, minored in psychology, and was a member of the OSU Women's Track and Field team for the past five years. I am a certified nursing assistant and will be heading to nursing school in late October 2021. In the meantime, I have been doing some caregiving for a family friend's 85-year-old father. Seeing how much he values staying in his own home and him getting to remain as independent as possible has inspired me to find more caregiver opportunities.
