In my household we were taught the art of body massage to increase, stimulate and evenly distribute the circulation in the body. This promotes not only relaxation but strength and tone to the muscles. It also promotes healing. My cultural household also equipped me with skills of honor like patience, gentleness, thoughtfulness, kindness, and empathy. I became a Caregiver because it was already naturally instilled in me by my parents and because my mother became ill and incapacitated and I needed to care for her. There were many things I already knew but there was much more to learn so I decided to go to school to learn greater skills, time management, techniques of bending, turning a patient, bathing, tube feeding, CPR, and wound care.
