Hello, my name is Elisa I am 59 years old My caregiving started in 1995 , as my Mother became ill , I knew she would want a high level of in home care that I would personally be able to provide. As her illness became more advanced , it was important to me that she be able to stay in her home where she would be more comfortable. A few time a week turned into every day, then several hours a day. My Mothers wishes to be at home in her time of need was fulfilled . And it was a blessing and a honor to be there for her. I found myself wanting to give other families the same opportunity my Mother was given. I continued working closely with other families as well as with the IHSS of King Co. from 1995 till 2001.Then in California in Contra Costa Co. From 2002 - 2009 then , I returned back to Washington State where I have continued my work with private families. Before I thought that I was a really patient person because I used to take care of my love ones,friends, neighbors,etc even when they've shown bad actitudes or behaviors or situations that you really need to understand , love , and accepts and be able to just offer them your help. But I realized that is not just patience what i need , is also compassion, and consciousness that we all need each other's as a human being. I am naturally a compassionate and cheerful person. I cared for my late mother when she was ailing and this gave such fulfillment and the drive to help people that are unable with activities of daily living. I enjoy bringing a smile on my clients face when they feel safe, heard and cared for. In my role as a caregiver to an elderly lady with dementia, I always showed her kindness, patience and compassion and as a result the family entrusted me to care for her while even while she was in hospice until she passed on and later requested me to care for another family member who had Alzheimer's.

I would say I am most proud of my time as a volunteer firefighter because not many women can say they have had the honor of experiencing such an honorable position.
