Being a caregiver is not for everyone but I can say this is my calling. In the 15 years I have gained so much experience and met so many wonderful families. Some residents at the Assisted Living Community call me Christmas, saying it's close to Carol , my nickname. They said it fits my personality. Willing to give love (as the song goes... on Christmas Day!), happy, funny, full of joy! I have been taking care of my Father who suffered from stroke for 10 years back in the Philippines, being one of his caregivers. I was also his Physical Therapist. We moved here in the US 5 years ago, and I have worked as a caregiver , then transitioned to work in the Med Room as a Medication Technician at Maple Glen Assisted Living in Shelton, WA. I consider it a calling given the opportunity to work there. I am a people person and loves taking care of elderly. I treat them as family and I enjoy listening to their stories, and attending to their needs. Having a Physical Therapy background, and with experience in home health, clinical, and hospital settings, I could offer different types of assistance based on the needs. I consider my time at Maple Glen as one of my career achievements. I love all of the residents and I became The Employee of the Month in less than a year. Being a caregiver is a calling for me. I am proud to be one and I enjoy doing it! It is not an easy job but coming from a Filipino family surrounded by big hearted love ones, I carry it wherever I go, and I live up to the values my parents had taught me, which I am passing on to my daughter and son.

I would like to help people to be healthy. At their ages I want them to feel they are important people ,make them more strong ,and comfortable! As a caregiver, I love elderly and treating them like my family . And I enjoy with them if I'm talking and have a great conversation even a very short hrs that permits us ..and I want them to feel my full support in many ways . Really I feel proud if I see them in progress in my personal care. I feel I'm satisfied to my career!

Hello! I am currently a Home Care Aid in the Shelton area, and I work with a variety of clients young and older. I love working with children, and I am going to school to become a chemical dependency counselor and hope to work with youth at risk. I am CPR certified, smoke free, and have my own vehicle. Also, very pet friendly! I have two dogs of my own, and they do ride in my car occasionally (just In case anyone has allergies). I have one year professional experience being a Home Care Aid, one year working with children on the spectrum, and several years non professional experience caring for my younger siblings and volunteering for church groups, classes, and non profits.

I am a great caregiver because I can make them laugh and face the morning with a smile. I became a caregiver at first because that's the first full time job offered to me here in US but throughout the time I learned to live and embrace the works of a caregiver. I did things that's beyond my duty but doing it with precautions and safety such as hair cut and nail spa. I know I did a great job because their families praise me and thank me all the time. The best compliment I received as a caregiver, actually a lot.. first: my name was mentioned in my resident's obituary referring to me as a friend who gave excellent care companionship; second telling us that our home is the cleanest home they ever visited ( I technically do all the cleanings as my provider will tell them it's because of me) lastly; referring to us as angels on earth because of the care we're giving.
