I have been taking care of people in my family all of my life, I enjoy doing for others and seeing the smile on their faces. Putting a smile on someone's face who wouldn't usually smile. I nursed my mom back to health after she had her leg amputated from complications of Diabetes, I helped her get her life back by working with her every day until she got strong enough to use her prosthetic leg on her own, now I cannot slow her down.

Hello, My name Is April Smith. I currently live in Shreveport La, im originally from Tahlequah Oklahoma. I have been a helper most of my life. Growing up my mom had Lucas and I remember always wanting to help her. Even though she didn't ask I can remember feeling like a super hero when I helped her. She was my Hero. She has always been in the business of caring for others. First as a CNA, for most of my young life. And then a an activies coordinator. So it's been a life long experience for me. Myself I have been a CNA, and now a caregiver believe in values, Dependability, and Honesty. I treat my clients how I would want some one to treat a family member of mine. I believe that families entrust us with a very valuable asset of theirs. And I believe a caregivers job is one of honor. Alot of the people we care for have paved the roads in this world we live in. And in some pretty hectic times. I believe we have two ears and one mouth for a reason. To listen twice as much as we speak. Their are so many unknown bonuses to what we do. So I believe being compassionate, understanding and reliable., are core characteristics for what we do.

I am a very friendly down to earth women of 61 years young. I have a vast array of professional experiences from recovering patients straight from the operating room that have had open heart surgery to caring for newborns. I had to retire in 2004 because I became very ill with lymphedema and a very painful bladder disease called interstitial cystitis. Being severely ill has made me even more caring and compassionate for anyone suffering from any illness. I like to incorporate family into my patient care as much or as little as the family member is comfortable. I believe that God allowed me to become ill so that I could become a very compassionate care giver. I actually CARE for my patients.

What makes me a great caregiver is because I love to share my love to other. Before I became a Nursing Assistant I was a caregiver for 6 years. I was a little girl helping my grandmother every weekend. I would prepare here meals feed her, bath her and everything. She would talk me through everything I needed to do. Then I really enjoyed taking care of her I went until the real world and started doing it on my own. I feel in love with it after that and I been loving it every since. What I like about being a caregiving. Is that I can be a blessing to someone by putting a smile on there face. Making someone feel safe are just giving them some on my time. Some patient don't even have family that want even go check on them. It makes my day when I can bless someone by perparing a meal are giving a warm bath. I have a really loving heart I treat my patients like my family because in my eyes they are like apart of my family. I love to pray with my patients I take them home in my prayers. My personal achievement im proud of is becoming a loving, caring and honest person....
