I am a 44 year old married mother of 1 College student and a Veteran. I have been doing Home Health Care on and off for the past 20 plus years. I nursed my own grandmother through a partial mastectomy and knee surgery. I assisted in hospice care for my husband's mother. I understand how hard it is to keep a job and to care for family members. I am not a fan of nursing homes I feel it is better for one to be at home with family and familiar surroundings. Compassion and empathy for others are traits that enables me to work well as a caregiver. The study of Gerontology at Edwards university convinced me that Positive Aging or Aging Gracefully is really attainable with the right tools and the right attitude in place. My mother assisted the elderly, I would help her from time to time. I knew it was the right thing to do. When I graduated high school, I went to work in a Nursing home as a Nurses Aide. The thing I enjoy most about caregiving is being able to encourage others to live and enjoy life one day at a time in spite of the circumstances. Securing the 83 hrs of Gerontology at St. Edwards University and the time I learned and worked for the City of Austin for 22 years. I started as a volunteer, Senior nutrition aide, promoted to Site Mgr. , promoted to Site Mgr. Supervisor, Promoted to Project Director, Senior Employment. When I retired I was acting Program manager of Senior Programs. These are two achievement I'm proud of. The greatest achievement was when a Hospice client was motivated, got up from bed and starting fixing her breakfast again.

When working I treat my clients with love make them feel like if I was one of there family members. Treat with respect being a caregiver makes me happy I love seeing them smile just to treat them how I would want some body to treat my love ones. making them smile

I have 14 years' experience in the caregiving field. I have cared for clients with Cerebral Palsy, Dementia, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Quadriplegics, Cancer and strokes. In 2007 I worked in an orphanage where I told care of children who were heart broken because they lost their loved one. I was later on promoted to an orphanage director due to my heart felt services to children at need for over 8 years. In 2014 till date I have been caring for the elderly population . I have worked with different types of elderlypeople with different types of arging challenges . I have equally served hospice care who were able to peaceful and comfortable went to rest in heaven.
