Caregiving is I think an honor to help individuals get a better quality of life being at home in their own homes. What I like about being a caregiver is being able to show a client how being at home can be fun, enjoyable and mostly safe for them. I am most proud of myself for a few reasons. Losing an excessive amount of weight. After a loss of a child I gained a large amount of weight and when I had my son, I was larger than life. But as years went by I needed to start taking care of myself. Have lost over 583 lbs in 33 years. Also achieving getting back up on my own raised my son and became a Licensed Nurse's Assistant with home care and nursing homes. Did many kinds of employment but always came back to nursing. My biggest passion is caring and helping people in need. It is a very fulfilling and important part of my life. When I'm not working, I spend my leisure time kayaking, walking/hiking, reading, being creative and taking care of myself and my home. I'm blessed with strength and good health, patience and understanding, and I believe this is why former caretaking clients always asked for me. I look forward to meeting you!

The best part about being a caregiver is assisting clients in being as independent and comfortable as possible. I have a deep respect for the values and character strengths I see in my clients. It is a privilege to take care of them. I enjoy providing direct care, cooking simple nutritious meals, and doing what is needed to maintain their homes.

I work full-time as nursing assistant at DHMC for 12 years and 5 years as a nutrition assistant. My 2 amazing children are in the teen. I want to help out my community. Hello, my name is Laura and I am 31. I have a wonderful husband and we have 2 children. T. is 12 and B. is 8. I have a diverse back ground with elderly care and child care, and am looking for clients. When I was a child my mother had an in home daycare and she also took care of my grandfather who had MS. From an early age I was introduced to both child care and elderly care and realized that I had a passion to help people. I have worked in a nursing home, had a private daycare, and most recently worked privately in a home assisting a 92-year-old who was unable to walk. I have experience with a multitude of things and am willing to learn. I believe in the golden rule; treat everyone, how you want to be treated. I was raised with a strong sense of compassion, responsibility, dependability and honesty. I take pride in providing the best care possible.
