I'm an nursing assistant with the combination of 19 , plus years of training and experience. Patient focused and empathetic caregiver with extensive knowledge of geriatric needs. I'm a firm believer of treating people the way I would want my love ones treated. I am 20 years old, and I wanted to become a caregiver because I thoroughly enjoy helping people in need. I plan to become a Registered Nurse so I can further my career in care giving. I am patient when it comes to taking care of the elderly, I am highly respectful of them and let them set the pace when there is a certain everyday living activity we are accomplishing; I do my best to encourage them and let them make decisions about their care so they can stay as independent as possible, and it is my personal goal each day to walk in with a smile on my face to ensure that my patient and their families know I am more than happy to help them in any way that I can. I am also very understanding when it comes to families worrying about certain things with their lived one(s) and do my best to assure them that I will always keep my patient's best interest at heart. I do my best to comfort families during the grieving process when their loved one(s) pass away by praying for them and telling them they will be in my prayers, and that God will be with them through the difficult time.

My name is Savannah Hicks. Im 23 years old. I've worked as a caregiver for 4 years, 6mths in a nursing home 3 & 1/2 in a hospital. I chose to become a caregiver when in college trying to decide on my career path, I wasn't sure if I wanted to be a counselor or a nurse so i decided to do some volunteer work at a nursing home. I ended up getting a job there & fell in love with caring for others. I've seen & dealt with a lot in the short time I've been in the medical field. Its taught me a lot about myself & my knowledge has grown. I hope to one day be able to afford to go back to school become a nurse. I'm a single mom of a 18mth that keeps me on my toes & makes me even more greatful for this beautiful life God gave us both. I'm more grateful & compassionate to be able to take care of others because unlike most people my age I know what it's like to have to let someone take care of me. Long story short I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer when my son was 7mths old, I had to have 2 different surgeries & undergo radiation. I'm now in remission & couldn't be more thankful to have the rest fo my life to spend with my beautiful little boy & serve others. I pray everyday for God to mold me into the person hes called me to be, & help bring other closer to him. Caring for others is definitely one of my callings in life & I'm more than happy to be seeing others.
