I took care of my own Mother when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and I worked too. I have experience in brain injury, Parkinson's, Diabetes, Cancer all types and many more. I can take vitals change a Colostomy bag and empty a Catheter and change if need be, Do a feeding tube and a Hoyer Lift. I am very Compassionate, Trustworthy, and Dependable. I love working with elderly people. I am a very caring person honest hard working and loyal. I took care of my grandmother for 5 yrs when she became ill. I enjoyed every minute with her. I have been a nurse for almost 20 years. I became a nurse because I enjoy helping others. I have always had a special place in my heart for the elderly and throughout the years I've always seemed to gravitate in that direction. I've worked in skilled care doing IV therapy, wound care, and g tube feedings along with many other skilled duties to include administration of chemotherapy and IV pain medication. I also have a special place in my heart for disabled children and adults. I have an adult son with Angelman syndrome who now resides in a group home setting. I'm now wanting to branch out on my own. I began my career in dentistry. I graduated from Indiana University with a certificate in Dental Assisting and earned my Expanded Functions of Dental Assisting in 1996 and went on to be a sophomore in dental hygiene and pre dental. While attending dental hygiene I became married and had my son Gabriel. During this time I took time away from school to stay home with my baby! When he was two I went to work as a Dental Assistant again. During this time I noticed Drs treating patients as numbers instead of people. So my nurse friend asked if I would like to work as a home health aide/ caregiver for home health Visiting Angels. I started working with Visiting Angels in 2013. And I found my purpose!! I worked with hospice, Alzheimer's, dementia, Parkinson's, stroke, and being a companion. I have a lot of experience with medication reminders, bathing hygiene, ect. The thing I enjoy most about caregiving/ home health aide is putting smiles on my patients faces, helping them as much as I can so they know they are cared about. I treat each patient as I would want my family taken care of!! I'm very compassionate and patient. I give over 100% And I absolutely love what I do. I can go home at night knowing I helped someone, I put a smile on their faces or held their hand. I not only help them but they help me as well.
