I have worked as a TNA at NHC nursing home for a year and worked as an in-home caregiver for 4 years. It is my passion! I love helping others! The absolute best part of my time as a caregiver was becoming a companion to my clients. I worked hard and became a Manager for 2.5 years. I love this field and give it my all every day!

I became a caregiver because I have a big heart and a lot to offer in ways of understanding and patience. I see my clients as people still and not just a job. I also have personal experience with special needs and a long range of care. From hydrocephalus and a shunt as well as multiple surgeries and recovery, incontinence and Cath care and multiple other things I have went through with one of my twins since birth. Also have worked with hospice patients and families. Have also went through my own person experiences with hospice and with loss including one of my children and with others close to me.

I have always wanted to work in the health care field. What really drew in into being a caregiver was taking care of my mother when she was going though her chemo treatments and after she had her surgery to get ride of her tumor. I am very dedicated to my work. I absolutely love caring for people and knowing that I am impacting their life in such a big way by doing little things.

I like to think of myself as very caring and compassionate, I love helping other people. I have been working in long term caring (nursing home) for a little over 3 years and have always had my full heart in it. I love being able to make a impact on others lives by helping in ways that maybe they can't anymore. I have recently started nursing school to further my career in healthcare.

I received my CNA certificate after my maternal grandmother was diagnosed with stage 4 terminal breast cancer. Prior to her being placed on hospice I would watch what the nurses were doing and when small things would happen I would take over. Example her if would constantly alarm I watched and learned to reset it if the nurse was busy. After my grandmother was placed on hospice she said to me after me helping to care for her she whispered to me moments before passing "baby doll this is your calling, God has placed you here to care for others please peruse this field". And I did just that. I retained my CNA and worked in various nursing homes and always had an interest in death and dying units. I wanted to make them as comfortable and content as possible. I wanted to be there as much as I could for those who had family place them in nursing homes and never visit. I wanted to be there like family . which led me to the choice being offered to a patient that use to come into the ER routinely. Until family of that patient offered me to take care of him at home until his last days... I worked for a nursing home where we had a husband and wife in separate sections of the nursing home I worked with the husband more frequently than the wife but one morning I arrived at work and heard thru our morning meeting report that the wife had passed and they hadn't told the husband . I offered because I was very close to him . long story short family was not going to make arrangements for him to attend her funeral due to limitations he had ie him being in a wheelchair and then not having access to transportation to get him there. Short staffed at the home I offered on my day off to see to him getting to the funeral home church and grave site. It was hard I pushed him thru areas that were grassy muddy and not meant for travel in a wheel chair but I did it . I put myself in his shoes that did and did whatever it took.

I enjoy working with elderly. I have been in this field most of my life and it simply comes as a second nature for me. I enjoy helping others.

I'm reliable and dependable. I've been a CNA for 17 yrs. I decided to pursue this career because I believe my calling is to help others.

I have been a CNA for 15 years. At the age of 20 I started going to the nursing home where my grandmother resided and took care of her. She had Alzheimer's. She could not do anything for herself. I would go and feed her and help the other CNA's take care of her. I had a RN and Administrative staff from the nursing home talk to me about going to school to become a Nurse. I enrolled in their CNA program and completed all courses and passed State Boards in Paducah, KY. My grandmother died a year after I received my certification. I worked there for 8 years. I took some time off until my two children were in preschool. I then decided to go back to being a CNA, but this time I wanted to give the hospital a try. I applied to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, TN. I got the job. A job most people dream about getting. I loved every second of it. It was remarkable, but very different from nursing homes. I was a CNA, but did LPN work with my patients. I feel like I've been around the world working at Vanderbilt. You come across so many different walks of life and each patient is different and that in itself is so rewarding. I decided to not go to nursing school because I love being able to bond with my patients. I didn't just want to do paperwork and give meds. I love being a CNA. I love every relationship I've built with my patients and their families.

Hello, my name is Matthew Clark and I have been working in long term care for two years and substence abuse recovery for one. Prior to working in health care I was an executive chef and kitchen manager and studied english at James Madison University and sustainably agricultural at J.Sargent Reynolds Community College. I elected to take a new career path because I wanted to make a greater impact with my purpose and be a servent to himanity. Don't get me worng, hosting patrons for weekend brunch and NFL sunday did have its joyful moments, but not to the degree that I am fullfilled with in nursing. I am a very attentive and detailed care giver that is very personable and professional. After my tasks are completed, I enjoy spending time with my patients and bonding with them at a deeper level. Weither it's looking at family photos, talking cars or motorcycles, I always find a way to become more than a care giver; and many will say I am their favorite nurse! On my free time I enjoy working out, taking classes, riding my harley and spending time with friends and family.
