I am happiest and most fulfilled while caring for others. I fell in love with nursing in 1978 when I started my first job as a Nursing Assistant. I found that I was not only doing a job, I was caring for a person with an extensive life history that I could learn from. People who had family who loved them but were no longer able to care for them. I went on to get my LPN in 1986 and finally RN in 2012. I have provided care in Nursing Homes, Assisted Living Centers, private care in homes, Home Care through agencies and have cared for my patients and their families with integrity and compassion. Aging parents have caused me to reevaluate the need for flexibility and the availability to now also provide care for them. This means the typical nursing block schedule is no longer a good fit for my families needs. I will continue to provide compassionate care for others but it will look different than it has in the past.

I am a very open and kind caregiver, I always try my hardest to make my residents smile or laugh. I understand that the times they are in can be challenging, so making them happy, or even smile or laugh is what motivates me. I love being a caregiver mostly for the relationships I gain with my residents, most of my previous residents become almost like grandparents to me and that is something I forever cherish.

My mother died of cancer of the blood and what inspired me was the treatment she received from caregivers was excellent and this inspired me to be that caregiver to help the lives of people like my mom who need that care. I love people and l love what l do. I enjoy most to see that lam helping someone and is able to smile and feel cared for the things z person is unable to do.

I became a caregiver out of opportunity and a chance to help a family I knew who needed care for one of their foster kids. While I am looking into a different career path in the future, being a caregiver in the present is extremely rewarding. I am patient and positive, I like helping people and I can't just stand by and do nothing. I started when I was 17 as a PCA and am currently a Home Health Aide, and I have learned so much, and I've gained understanding of different disabilities and how to help people with those disabilities.

I genuinely enjoy providing support and assistance to others, whether it's helping with daily tasks or simply offering a listening ear. I thrive in this role because it allows me to make a meaningful difference in people's lives and contribute to their well-being. I find fulfillment in the connections I build with those I care for and take pride in exceeding expectations by going above and beyond to meet their needs. Being a caregiver isn't just a job for me; it's a calling that resonates deeply with who I am as a person, and I am grateful for the opportunity to make a positive impact every day
