My name is Melanie, and I am, above all, a wife, mom, daughter to my 92 year-old Momma who lives with us, Gramma, sister, Aunt, etc. Family is important to me; a healthy and happy family. I have always been the nurturer or caregiver in the family, among my peers, in my jobs, with my co-workers and even with strangers that need assistance. My grandparents lived with us when I was little and I started babysitting at 10. Throughout my life I have worked with severely disabled children and adults, developing children's imagination and educating them, created programs for all ages, assisted seniors who needed care in the home and personally lost loved ones to Cancer. I am also familiar with the end of life and/or hospice process. My Momma has short term memory loss and I have taken care of several dementia patients thru end of life. I feel contentment in knowing assistance, time, care and respect I can give to another human makes a positive impact in their life and can give family members a bit of peace knowing their loved one is safe. I try my best to not be a proud person, but I must say one of the best achievements in my life is raising three children to be productive, responsible, respectful and loving adults. My husband, myself and Momma just moved to the Panhandle this last November and I am looking forward to experiencing all the things this area has to offer.

I think I would make a great caregiver because I had to give care to my own mother ,grandmother and father in law while they were all 3 dealing with terminal illness 2 of them cancer so I learned alot and seen alit from being a caregiver to my own family some of them for months .It's very hard to watch your loved ones sick or in pain but they need the comfort and companionship and whatever other needs may be needed!I would want someone to comfort me one day if I am ever in a situation like such .It takes someone with a caring heart more than anything and strong interest in helping others and that I definitely have!
