Hi, my name is Reese! I'm 17 years old and currently finishing out my last year of high school. I do the co-op program where I go to school and work every other day as a CNA. I work as a CNA at 2 places in Chillicothe. I love my job because i get to make a difference in someone's life every single day. I know everything you do matters in the residents point of view so I try to keep a positive attitude through everything. I love being able to make lasting impressions on the people I get to care for.

I took care of my grandmother before she passed and seeing the smile on her face everyday made me love taking care of her. I love making people feel loved and comfortable. I love true crime and older shows like golden girls. I also love board games and card games. I love making people laugh and feel good about themselves.

It all Started when I was very young, I was 5 and Started To realize my mom's balance wasnt like the other kids mom's. It was just my mom and I, so I instinctively helped her as much as a 5 year old could. As I got older she got worse, and I could help more. That's exactly what I did. She ended up being misdiagnosed with polyneuropathy in the mid 90s. She got worse over the years, and eventually could not walk at all. In 2008-09 we found out she had a tumor growing all throughout her spinal cord. which was in fact the cause of why she was losing and eventually lost the ability to walk at all. She can't feel her legs and feet, or anything below the belly button. She ended up getting bed sores, so I change her wound dressings daily, and a nurse comes one day a week. She takes pictures of her progress. I have experienced with the wound vac, and right now we just use silver nitrate and barrier cream, and flip her on her sides for two hours. This is the second time she's had these sores so they won't ever heal fully. I used to get paid by seiu (doors) to be her caregiver but they cut her off for her assets. So I still take care of her and do everything the same 7 days a week any way. I am fully qualified, I run arrends, prepare meals, clean, so laundry, bathe her and just tend to her needs.

I have been a CNA for almost 4 years but I have been around the medical field my entire life. I am a very kind and caring person. Your family member(s) will always come before myself. What attracted me to care giving is that I want to make a difference abs be there for your family when you aren't able to. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is the feeling of self-accomplishment. I feel like it's am amazing heart-warming feeling whether it's being there day 1 when your loved one experiences a major health issue requiring assistance, or maybe it's being there because your schedule is too hectic to be there for your loved one 24/7. I have experience with hospice care as well. I am also a very strong individual so if ur loved one requires extensive lifting it won't bother me at all. One of the personal achievements I'm proud of is being able to being someone back to life when they thought they were too far gone.

I have a nursing school background (Methodist School of Nursing), am caring, prompt and attentive. Being a caregiver gives me great satisfaction-knowing that person is being well-cared for. I am proud of my reputation at being good at what I do. I am of retirement age, and am wanting to continue helping others.
