I am a 28 year old single mother of 3 children. I have taken care of elderly sick family since the age of 12. I am currently a CNA and I love every ounce of meaning and reason for my job. My grandmother is and was my encouragement for getting into the Healthcare field. I love working with the elderly you can learn so much from them if you take the time to take it all in.

I have 18 yrs experience as a caregiver for elderly, disabled individuals. I have a history of being a CNA, Rehab assistant, and a sitter. I enjoy being able to aid these individuals maintain their quality of life, whether it means helping with showers, meals, household chores or running errands, among other services.

I retired10 years ago and wanted to make a difference in people's lives. Got a job at Walmart and discovered very little opportunities to reach people. Heard of homecare and attended CNA classes at Manor at Bluewater Bay, FL. To get professional training went to work in Nursing home owned by Signature Health Services, a large organization. Despite the glowing accolades of superior services, I discovered very little time and cut corners on cleaning residents messes, shoving food before they finished swallowing and excuses for not answering call lights. This has prompted me to cut my planned 12-24 month experience short and go into one on one caregiving. I quit a job in SC to go assist my 95-year-old Father. Then accompanied my wife when she sat with clients, I did the cooking (Healthful, tasty and attractive meals) housecleaning, laundry and driving to Drs appointments, shopping trips, visiting, chatting, and playing games with the clients. Have worked well with both Male and Female clients.

I have several years of experience, education and training in behavioral health, mental health and substance abuse. I have worked in assisted living environments, specifically with mild cognitive impairment/dementia, and stroke survivors. The care and concern I have for others is an investment I take seriously in myself. I find joy in helping others live with the quality of life I want for my own family. I take pride in my training and volunteer work with hospice, suicidology, crisis and the Red Cross Disaster Action and Engagement Teams.

My experience started with my grandparents when they both became very sick from cancer and heart problems. i stayed and took care of them both and that's when i realized this was what i enjoyed doing. It makes me happy knowing the smallest of takes helps and mean the most to others. But my favorite part of it all is the friendship i always tend to build with clients. Sometimes just conversation means the most, to have a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on. This all factors in to my goals in life and me going to college to become a certified nurse which i currently attend classes on tuesdays. There is always so much to learn. I'm always learning new things. What attracted me most to being a caregiver is that I love helping others. It is a passion of mine. I love hearing stories from back in the day & how so much is different from then & now. I could listen to their stories over & over again. God gave me a profession as being a CNA because this was what I was meant to do. It's all I know & I wouldn't change it for nothing. Being a caregiver is an unforgettable experience.
