The reason I have a heart of caring for people is due to my upbringing. I grew up in a home of love and respect for everyone. One of those caregiving times was of my grandmother while she remained home in her aging years. I am the youngest of 19 grandkids who all took turns taking care of her. I have always enjoyed serving others and knew the place for me was in the medical field. I am a caring, compassionate and loving person who cares for people in the way I want to be treated and that is with dignity and respect. I have always enjoyed taking care of our elderly and I believe that reason is due to taking care of my grandmother at an early age. I enjoy talking with them, listening to their life stories, taking in all their wisdom and knowledge about life. I raised 3 kids and now a grandparent and my greatest achievement are my family. My kids have grown up to be successful in their own ways and to know that puts a smile on my face and in my heart.

Myself as do many of you know what it is like to have a loved one that has Alzheimer's or dementia or other elder needs. In 1999 my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and dementia it was a very rough road to cross. After seeing the things that my mother has went through and has accomplished and overcome it makes me want to continue to work in the nursing field. Someone once asked me why I chose the nursing field and all I can tell you is it is the simple things in life that can make a dramatic difference in someone's life. I love knowing that with my help and others and family members also I am able to help them stay at home. I love knowing that what I can do can change someone's life whether it be from something simple as tieing their shoe or just helping them brush their hair or complete simple daily tasks....
