I think what makes me a great caregiver is, that not only do I love helping people to get their daily activities done, but I have a lot of personal experience caregiving. When I first got into caregiving I was taking care of a family member who was a paraplegic, and a home health nurse came one day and told me how good of a job and how fast I was at catching on to certain things, and that I should really look into nursing and that is exactly what I did. What I enjoy most about caregiving, is that it's never a dull day, and I can go home feeling good about myself that I had actually accomplished something good for the day. My Personal Achievement that I am proud of, from being a caregiver is that I finished getting licensed in the state of Washington, and was pregnant at the time I was doing it and working a full-time job with lots of overtime I would get at least 60 hours a week. And I got it done. Right now I am going to school to get my Healthcare Administration License because my long term goal is to, travel the US and research different city's that really need home care, and open some adult foster homes for those in need.

When I became a lifeguard, I got a taste of being able to help someone who is helpless and cannot save themselves. I quickly realized that the medical field is for me. I began to strive for more and made it my life goal to be a nurse. I became a CNA because it's a great stepping stone into the medical field and when I realized how good it feels to help individuals improve on their health, I fell in love with the job. I am proud of my title and love what I do. One achievement that I have in this field is that I nursed (along with the help of PT) an elderly gentleman back on his feet after a major fall. This job is not for everyone, but I couldn't have chosen a better one.

1. I became a caregiver because I want to give back to the elderly that once loved and took care of me when I was younger. 2. I like the mere fact that when I assist the elderly, I'm able to make a difference in their life. For instance, I love to see them smile and that they can feel safe with me. In addition, I love to sit down and hear the stories the elderly has to say. 3. My personal achievement that I am proud of, is that I'm giving my certified nursing skills to someone that really cares and needs my help. 4. I am very compassionate and love to listen to people on what they have to say. Whether it makes sense or not. In addition, I'm a very hard worker, don't mind change, and flexible. I like to be a team player and utilize my knowledge where needed.

I have 30 years in healthcare and have also worked in the School district with Lifeskills students. I am HCA certified and have ALL my certs plus food handlers, fundamentals, CPR/First aide. I have worked with a variety of disabilities young and old. I love learning from the ones i take care of as well as helping them. Stephanie Birden

I genuinely enjoy the work I do, and I try my best to go above and beyond for my clients. I never thought I'd ever do this kind of work, but now it's all I can picture for my future. Caregiving has given me opportunities to learn and grow in ways I never thought I could, and now a purpose to go into nursing and help even more people in need.

What are your personality traits or expertise that help you be a great caregiver? I have a great attitude because I love my job, I have always liked helping people with daily activities... What attracted you to being a caregiver? I love making peoples lifes easier, I love organization and the fact I feel good about myself when I go home. And when I wake up in the morning I always look forward to that day at work as well. What do you enjoy most about being a caregiver? Everything about the job, and I love getting good comments from clients when I suggest we do something an easier way, they say, "wow I never thought of doing it that way" that's a sense of achievement for me. What is a personal achievement you are proud of? The fact I have learned to do just about any job as a caregiver.

I'm compassionate, punctual, and committed to providing the best quality care. I have taken care of my own family members. One with dementia and one with terminal cancer. I will never regret those moments. I love what I do. I feel I have a calling to the medical field to help people and families in need. Family is important to me. That is why my husband and daughter are one of my biggest achievements in life.
