I have the calm and quiet type of demeanor and have been told on several occasions that my voice is very calming. Basically, I get along with everyone. What attracted me to becoming a caregiver is that it's my calling and what I'm passionate about. It comes very naturally for me after being in this profession for over 30 years. Caregiving takes a special type of person. It can be very difficult for clients to receive help-- especially if it is through an agency that throws them a different caregiver every time. This job requires that you keep that thought in your mind at all times, and understand the discretion and quiet dignity that it calls for. Being younger can cause an issue for me due to the "generation gap" between me and my clients; however, what I lack in that area, I make up for with a lot of love (and a little goofiness, because that's important too). Although I am newer to this, I have had a lot of positive feedback so far, from both families and clients. I would prefer to work with someone consistently, so we can build a relationship that this type of care needs, which in turn will be less of an intrusion on my client's personal space since they will be seeing a familiar, smiling face. My job is extremely fulfilling, and I often go home with my heart FULL!! I can see myself doing this for a long, long time. I am a very caring person and friendly. I do quality work and I love to help others in any way that I can. I became a caregiver because I enjoyed spending time with other generations, other than my own, and understanding their perspective. Hello! My name is Apolonia and I am currently working fulltime as a CNA at Clearview in Juneau, WI. I started the nursing assistant program back in 2009 in my senior year of high school and became certified in 2010 shortly after my son was born. However, my first job working with elderly was as an activity aide for the Christian Home and Rehabilitation Center in Waupun. I really enjoyed being able to get the residents out of their rooms to share laughs, reminisce about the good old days, and to just be there for them when they needed someone to talk to. After a year, I decided that I wanted to pursue working as a nursing assistant, so I obtained a position with Century Oaks Assisted Living Center in Oshkosh. Yes, it was a long commute from Waupun everyday, but I absolutely loved it. I started when the second building opened, so not only was I a new cna but I was working in an environment that was entirely brand new and we all grew together. We had an amazing team of people and it never felt like going to work. We just became like family. In 2014, the company was bought out by Capital Senior Living and I stayed working for about a year and then decided it was time to take the next step. So I applied to Clearview because it was closer to home and I now have a more consistent routine for my son. I plan to stay working for Clearview fulltime, but I am looking to take on a possible part time, temporary position or even be on call certain days. Either way, I am definitely looking forward to caring for your loved one!
