I became a caregiver/CNA to help people in need of extra care. I worked for Hospice for 10.5 years and it was very rewarding helping individuals and their families and the end stages of their lives or their loved ones lives. I am currently enrolled in college to become a nurse so that I can learn more about my patients and their conditions. Helping others is not just a job to me its very rewarding and it gives you a sense of peace. Hopefully when I get to this stage in my life I will meet someone who has a good heart and loves what they do just as much as I love what I do. Being compassionate, understanding, and having a BIG HEART is the key to this job.

I have been a caregiver most of my life. I cared for my grandmother with bronchial asthma and half a lung,, my mother had a brain tumor for several years with thyroid cancer and skin cancer, my uncle had colon cancer and Parkinson's Disease and lived with me. I have 2 grown sons. I have a paraplegic wheelchair bound husband who works as a hospital administrator for a convalescent/hospice hospital. I have been a Licensed Vocational Nurse since January 2003. I love being a caregiver because I get great satisfaction from helping others deal with their health issues to meet their optimal health status, whether it be physically, mentally, spiritually, etc... if possible. I am also a massage therapist, singer, and poet. I use these skills if necessary also. I have gone on a Mission trip, voluntarily, to Ghana, Africa, to help triage on a nursing team, for Paul Wilbur Ministries. One of my most accomplishments in life. I also have volunteered to help deliver food to the hungry for Riverside Mission, among many other organizations.I also have worked as a nurse voluntarily for an autism camp a couple summers ago. I was a bus driver for the special needs children/young adults for approx. 6 years before graduating from nursing School. I have willingly been a part to give back to the human population whenever I can.

I became a caregiver because of 2 main reasons. 1st is I believe that being a caregiver brings spiritual treasures that will not spoil or be taken away. As a hospice aid for 7 years I realized that we or our spirit belongs to a place where we will no longer suffer. 2nd I always pray for my time when my body also become old and fragile. When that time comes I will also like to be treated the same way I treated my client, with respect, compassion and care. The thing I like about caregiver is the joy that I get after the client passes away and hear from family and friends that I have done a good job. The personal achievement that I can say was from my last case with a couple in Los Altos where the husband died. I was live-in for five days and at the final days of the client I remained with him all night and called the children early in the morning to come and say their final respect to their Father. And surely it was his last day and the children was so appreciative of it. Just a quote from his recommendation letter "It is my absolute pleasure to write this recommendation letter. I've became a cna because my mom has been working private duty for decades and I use to see how greatful her clients were to her and I love the feeling of helping my elders it makes my day knowing I can make there life a little easier and I love the bond that I receive from my patients and there family. My greatest achievement was getting my cna liscense

I became a caregiver because I enjoy helping and taking care of those who can no longer provide for themselves. I like the trust that we gain from each other the fact that I'm helping to extend someone's life. I am proud that I achieved great customer service experience, learned how to be humble. What makes me a great nurse is the excellent skills that i provide and the effort that i put into giving each one of my clients and family excellent care. I become a Home Health Aid because this touching my hearts and love really working with your lover ones. For me being a Home Health Aid is great. I enjoy what I am doing. My name is Tyree Thomas I'm 28 years old and I've been a caregiver for 7 years. I became a caregiver because I always had a passion for taking care of others especially the elderly.
