I have been a CNA for 15 years, a very sensitive incident involving someone dear to my heart happened that caused me to finish high school with this trade. It was my father, he suffered a severe stroke paralyzing him on the right side, I had to run his law firm which over time, I had become the Executive Office Manager and Executive legal assistant. I have a nature for caring, being compassionate, loving and attentive. I pay close attention to detail, I'm organized and professional. I love the career path I have chosen as it has taught me so much and prepared me for my new journey into becoming an RN. The nursing field is beyond rewarding as you help people can not help themselves whether it is due to illness, pain, age and or disability. I have a passion for interacting with people. I cant see myself doing anything else.

I (Torri) became a Caregiver, because it has became a passion of mine. Since caring for my great Grandmother till her last day. I've felt a need to help the elderly that simply cannot do it themselves. I've worked in many care facilities and also did in home care on the side. The feeling of accomplishment, love, and someone genuinely caring for him/her that I see from a resident/client is the reason why I love doing this action. It's not just a "job" you're a huge deal in this persons life and that is a privilege. I've done the House Keeping shifts, Care Companion shifts, Med Aid shift, and in home care shifts. ALL give me a sense of fulfilment, which I always want to have in my life. I'm going to further my career based in Elder care. I enjoyed helping the elder members at church, when the requested that they needed some home health care services. I like being able to help cheer up someone day by asking them if they want to take a walk, play bridge, play the piano . My personal achievement is being able to help someone as I pass along and my living shall not be in vain. I'm responsible , reliable , college educated who loves helping others.

What makes me a good caregiver. Is that I am a caring person. I am a good listener and observant. I have a loving heart. I have experience with working with Dementia patients, patients with diabetes. I am a natural Care-taker. I grew up in a large family on a farm in Connecticut. I had a natural ambition to assist in the care of my siblings and animals. Since College I have had various jobs, but all of them were helping people, whether it be in their homes, at group home, in the community for pleasure or for work. I have relocated to Hawaii with my family one year ago to live in a warmer climate and enjoy the sunshine. I have a love for the ocean so in my free time I usually am at the beach snorkeling.

When their family can no longer help them or have them live with them a caregiver who will stay until they make up their mind works the client I was with for 9 years just left and moved in with her daughters in FLorida leaving me jobless but I did my job.
