1. Because I used to take care of my grandmother for 2 years and I just fell in love with the job. 2. I like helping people who are in need of help and being a caregiver provides the opportunity to help others who need help with their daily activities of living. 3. Achieving my CNA License (Certified Nursing Assistant) and getting my CPR training and license. 4. My name is Ray Kini and I'm 22 years of age, I'm from the Pacific islands in a small island called Fiji. I'm down to earth, very open to others and speak when I'm spoken to. I go to Sacramento City College and I'm majoring in Registered Nursing. I'm a hard worker and the two major things i value is RESPECT and being on TIME.

I have been living with and caring for a 94 year old woman. She has severe dementia and recognizes me as her caregiver and friend, but doesn't know my name. She has mood swings and shifts and is easy at times and very difficult at times. I love her dearly and very much enjoy caring for her. I have a fondness for elderly people. My grandfather had Alzheimer's and I did some part time caring for him before he died. I really like the feeling I get when she is comfortable and content because I have attended to her needs. When I help her get into bed and massage her feet with lotion, cover her up with her covers, and run my fingers through her hair while she closes her eyes, its the best feeling in the world. I make up songs using her name and she smiles and sometimes sings along with me. The reason I became a caregiver is because I have a weak heart condition wherein I cannot work a "normal" job and so I needed a job that provided for my needs, but also that does not exhaust me. Elderly people move slower than I do, so I can keep up with them. Because of my weak heart, I cannot lift a person, so someone in my lady's family comes to give her a bath. However, I give her sponge baths, and in emergencies, I have been able to lift her. I prepare her meals, help her dress, wash her face, brush her teeth, do her hair and makeup, take her for rides, talk to her, laugh with her, help her to bed and also help her change her adult pull-ups daily. I became interested in being a caregiver for my grandparents. I was able to be with them until they passed away in there own home. It was hard work but I know they wanted to be at home. I did everything for them. All of the meal prep cleaning, took care of all of the bathroom issues but with respect and lovingly. Tending to them. I'm a mother to 4 children .
