I love working with the elderly and learning about how things were when they were coming up. I love interacting with them and showing them that everyone is not the same. I became a caregiver after seeing my great grandmother go through stages of dementia and after helping take care of her. I enjoy the joy of helping them be able to still be able to interact in the world and get things done that they couldn't on their own.

Hello, I've had 4 years of experience I've had patients with different types of diseases such as dementia, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and on hospice. I am a quick learner and I enjoy spending time with the elderly.

I basically became a Caregiver because of my grandmother. After my grandmother became disabled and unable to care for herself my aunts decided to place her in a nursing home. My grandmother did not receive the best of care, and although I was unable to physically intervene I sent up my prayers for my grandmother and I was encouraged to become a Caregiver from this experience. I like being a Caregiver because of the different people that I get to meet and help, and the new opportunities that I get to experience. I think that the achievement that I'm most proud of is finishing college, I am the only sibling (8) that has accomplished this goal, and it wasn't easy to do so raising a family. I am the second oldest child out of eight brothers and sisters. I'm married (33 yrs) with three living adult sons (2 children deceased), and 10 grandchildren (5 girls, 5 boys). I was raised in Brooklyn, NY, and I've been living in Columbia, SC since 1993.

What makes me a great caregiver would be that I am trustworthy, knowledgeable, and caring. When I first became a caregiver, it was because i needed a job, but after a week or so it was more than just a job to me. I felt like I needed to be there for our elderly. They need someone who understands their situation, who can make them feel comfortable during difficult times and who are great company to have around. What made me enjoy being a caregiver was how i knew this is what I'm suppose to do. After 7 years, I am proud of myself for being who I am. A compassionate and dependable caregiver!
