1. What makes me a great caregiver is the fact that I love the job I do; which is providing care for people in need as I would care for myself or expect others to care for me. I don't belong to the class of caregivers who believe they are not being payed enough for this job. I love caregiving with all my heart, body and soul. 2. I became a caregiver after seeing my mom providing everyday care for my grandpa. Later on I came across an ad looking for caregivers in a retirement home; right there I realized I could provide help/care for the elderly and sick who needed it most. It was completely born out of compassion for people who needed care but have no one to care for them like my mom cared for my grandpa. 3. There is no satisfaction greater than putting smiles on the face of people who can't offer you anything other than gratitude. Seeing my residents and their families happy after providing care for them is such a great feeling. I love the fact that I can make them feel loved and protected. 4. My achievements as a caregiver are too many to count. On several occasions I have detected early signs of stroke amongst my residents even when my coworker and supervisors doubted me; but on all occasions, paramedics and doctors on arrival always congratulate me for detecting those signs. Being able to avert an imminent threat to the life of my residents is fulfilling.

I am a reliable and patient person who provides first class care. I have worked in various roles where the need to work closely with other people, follow strict rules and procedures and demonstrate understanding and empathy have been required. Caregiving has been a rewarding second career. After retiring from the banking industry, my sister who has been an RN for many years inspired me to follow down this path. It is a very rewarding experience, helping people in need and being there for their families.

I have worked in the healthcare field the past 4 years; I absolutely love it. I have worked in a group home, ISL(individual supported living), nursing homes and psychiatric hospital, ages ranging from 3-100. I worked as a CNA at the nursing home, helping with bathing, grooming, transfers, toileting, changing and person hygiene. In the ISL, I worked with disabled clients, helping with their everyday need. I would provide transportation, assist with house cleaning, administrating meds, personal hygiene and community skills. I Thoroughly enjoy working in the healthcare field and plan to attend college to get my RN degree. After graduation I would like to become a behavioral health nurse. I love being able to help people with things that they are no longer able to do.

What makes myself a great caregiver is I am compassionate, caring,patient,empathetic,and loving, I enjoy what I do for others. What encouraged my choice to do caregiving, My Father, he had a massive CVA in 2009 and since then my experience has driven me more towards helping not only family but those who need it. My biggest accomplishment in being a caretaker is the priceless moments of appreciation with my clients and there families.
