1. What makes me a great caregiver is the fact that I love the job I do; which is providing care for people in need as I would care for myself or expect others to care for me. I don't belong to the class of caregivers who believe they are not being payed enough for this job. I love caregiving with all my heart, body and soul. 2. I became a caregiver after seeing my mom providing everyday care for my grandpa. Later on I came across an ad looking for caregivers in a retirement home; right there I realized I could provide help/care for the elderly and sick who needed it most. It was completely born out of compassion for people who needed care but have no one to care for them like my mom cared for my grandpa. 3. There is no satisfaction greater than putting smiles on the face of people who can't offer you anything other than gratitude. Seeing my residents and their families happy after providing care for them is such a great feeling. I love the fact that I can make them feel loved and protected. 4. My achievements as a caregiver are too many to count. On several occasions I have detected early signs of stroke amongst my residents even when my coworker and supervisors doubted me; but on all occasions, paramedics and doctors on arrival always congratulate me for detecting those signs. Being able to avert an imminent threat to the life of my residents is fulfilling.
Skills & Certifications: Alzheimer's Disease, Arthritis, COPD, Dementia, Depression, Diabetes, Hearing Disorders, Home Health Care, Hospice Care, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's Disease, Post Surgery Recovery, Respiratory Disorders, Stroke, Vision and Eye Disorders, Neurological Disorders, Orthopedic Care, Cardiovascular Disorders, ALS

I am a reliable and patient person who provides first class care. I have worked in various roles where the need to work closely with other people, follow strict rules and procedures and demonstrate understanding and empathy have been required. Caregiving has been a rewarding second career. After retiring from the banking industry, my sister who has been an RN for many years inspired me to follow down this path. It is a very rewarding experience, helping people in need and being there for their families.

I became a caregiver because of 2 main reasons. 1st is I believe that being a caregiver brings spiritual treasures that will not spoil or be taken away. As a hospice aid for 7 years I realized that we or our spirit belongs to a place where we will no longer suffer. 2nd I always pray for my time when my body also become old and fragile. When that time comes I will also like to be treated the same way I treated my client, with respect, compassion and care. The thing I like about caregiver is the joy that I get after the client passes away and hear from family and friends that I have done a good job. The personal achievement that I can say was from my last case with a couple in Los Altos where the husband died. I was live-in for five days and at the final days of the client I remained with him all night and called the children early in the morning to come and say their final respect to their Father. And surely it was his last day and the children was so appreciative of it. Just a quote from his recommendation letter "It is my absolute pleasure to write this recommendation letter. Raul is a consummate professional and a kind, loving, attentive and compassionate caregiver. He is worthy of my unconditional praise, resulting from the outstanding service Raul provided our family during the time of need" "The bond of friendship Raul engendered became so rich that Dad missed him terribly on Raul's days off with his own family. He would light up upon Raul's return Dad confided freely"

People who can not assist themself. My goal is to have a smile on my clients, Patients or residents faces when I leave. Oh the stories I can spend all day listening to the wonderful adventures they have had. Who they where and how they came to be. So I'm very proud of myself, I have saved three individuals from choking. I have performed CPR for one. I've held the hands of a passing individual. I've had a individual pass away in my arms. I've ease the pain for many, as well as made so many happy. I love my career. I'd be more then happy to help you and your loved one if given an opportunity. Thank you.

Hello my name is Victoria my residents call me Vicky. I'm 31 years old and a mother of one beautiful little girl. I live in salinas. My mother is my inspiration on why I became a caregiver. When I was younger I would go with her to work she used to work in a convalescent home. I seen the effect she had on her residence and how happy and relieved they were to have someone care for them. While in high school I did volunteer work in the city of Soledad at Eden Valley care center, I volunteer in there activity room. I once again enjoyed seeing the smiles on the residents faces. I then knew this is what I want to do. After graduating high school as a valedictorian. I took the class for a CNA certified nursing assistant and HHA Home health aide. Then I passed the state test. I had my CNA and HHA for two years. Unfortunately I did not keep up with the required classes hours. So it expired. I'm currently working in Pacific Grove at a residential facility called The Del Monte Assistant Residential Care. I have been working here for 7 years. I have worked for other agencies like visiting angels and Maxim healthcare. As well as Windsors Garden. I have also done private duty for a wonderful family and a lovely lady I took care of that had dementia and a stroke one year prior to when I care for her. In this work filed I have met a lot of different residents/clients and their family's. I know I'm doing my job right. Because when I'm done caring for them they request me again. I have saved a lot of lives as well. With me you know your loved ones are in good working hands. Its my job to make sure they are cared for right and you have a much easier life.
