I graduated from Cedartown Comprehensive High School in 1983 and finished in the top ten percent of my class. I was chosen as captain of the football, wrestling and track teams. My teammates chose me for the award of Mr. Bulldog and Most Valuable Player. The coaches association named me to the 7-AAA All-Area and All-State Team. After graduation, I attended the University of West Georgia where I played Defensive End / Linebacker at the collegiate level. I am married to Mindy Mathis Surrett of Rome, Georgia. My wife teaches Advanced Calculus and coaches the swim team at Cartersville High School. She also teaches Calculus at Georgia Highlands College. Im a grea care giver because I understand the meaning of empathy. Its easy to want to be a caregiver but being a caregiver takes a lot of patients, passion and understanding, and genuine care. I really dont know what made me become a caregiver. My mom was a caregiver but I never thought that I would become one, its really hard to explain. I love the feeling I get when I can help some one and just make there day better or more comfortable, I just love helping people. A personal achievement that I am proud of is finishing college.
