My best traits as a caregiver is being patience,compassion, attentive, dependable, reliable, flexible, trustworthy. I enjoy working with people and most enjoy jobs where you have one on one interaction with others. I also like doing work that has the potential to make a difference in someone's life. The thing I like the most being a caregiver is making someone smile and doing little things to make a person's day better. My personal achievement is being able to pursue interesting, high quality work that has a positive impact. Securing awards, promotions and other acknowledgements of achievement. Maintaining a happy and healthy family life as well as career. And handling challenge, complexity and change.

I'm a certified nursing assistant with more than 16 years experience in a hospital, nursing home, assisted living and private home setting. I'm well equipped to provide emotional support in a comfortable, soothing environment. I also have advanced knowledge of Alzheimer's and dementia. My joy is to help clients with their daily activities like bathing, oral hygiene, grooming, feeding, also assist with transfer and ambulation. I'm also equipped to administer medication, maintained accurate records of patients care, condition, progress and concerns. Also maintained a clean, healthy and safe environment.

I've been in the medical field for over 14 years as a medical assistant, Dialysis technician and an EMT. I've worked with medically fragile children, the elderly and renal failure patients. The reason I become a caregiver because I enjoy taking care of the elderly, sick, and handicapped. What makes me a great caregiver is the opportunity to take care of some great people who need help and appreciate good help. I enjoy talking to people and listening to stories that so many elders have. I am very compassionate and do not frazzle easily. I have extensive experience with dementia patients. I recently became a certified Death Doula, specializing in personal care for dying patients. A personal achievement I am most proud of is raising my three children with my husband of 37 years. They (children) have grown to become great adults and that's all a parent can ask for.

I have always been more mature for my age. I grew up as an only child, only hanging around adults. I have always had a caring personality and when I was 18 after I graduated high school I started working as a CNA at an adult day care, caring for geriatrics with dementia. I fell in love with them. They may not be able to remember your name or their own name but they can tell you stories about their childhood that bring warmth to your heart. I am very good at caring for geriatrics, making them feel comfortable in embarrassing situations for them (bathing, changing soiled linen) because they still deserve dignity and respect which I make sure they know they have the upmost respect. Some geriatric patients have a hard time with caregiving because they have literally give up every ounce of independence they used to have which is hard to cope with. My personality is very smiley and happy around geriatrics which makes them feel better. I also have a very loud voice which is an advantage with geriatrics since most are hard of hearing, they can hear me because I tend to speak loudly. I am an RN however I love being a caregiver too. I am very good at caring for people, making them feel comfortable, I am very easy to talk to and educating on medical information also.

Caregiving is what I live for and has been my job for as long as I can remember. Whether providing a helping hand and services to relatives or neighbors, the appreciation for companionship means the world to me because the responsibility is shared amongst the caregiver and patient for personal achievement and growth!
