I grew up helping seniors I knew and have always loved doing so. I love being needed and feeling like I am making their life better, happier, healthier. My 40 plus years as a licensed Hairstylist has given me alot of people skills. I am an empathic soul and have compassion for people hurting or needing help. As I know, illness and aging is apart of life, if I can help to bring a caring, and comforting helping hand, I feel I'm doing something that is meaningfull.That brings me joy. I know GOD is using me in a beautiful way. I do my best to follow instructions given and make sure my clients needs are met. I stay focused on the job I'm doing. I'm adaptable . I have been a caregiver since 2009. I have a great passion for taking care of others and have spent most of my working career doing so. I have extensive experience in almost every area providing care for this population. I have worked with a variety of Alzheimer's and dementia clients as well as Parkinson's, MS, Diabetes, severe respiratory issues, Huntington's disease , cancer and those on hospice all which include many different special needs. I have a degree in Psychology from CSUS that I earned in 1983. If there's something new I'm not familiar with, I'm more than willing to learn. I love to cook and most likely can make almost anything up on request. I'm always willing to do house cleaning and laundry. I take pride in my work and always go above and beyond what is expected of me. I enjoy conversing with those I provide care for, they always have such interesting memories and history. My mission is to always treat my clients with the compassion, respect and dignity they deserve. I also work at the San Juan Unified School District with Autistic preschool children which requires much energy, patience and understanding. I am also fully vaccinated. Growing up, I was best friends with someone who has Autism. I was the only person she wanted to see when she was having a bad day. Her love for me sparked my interest in the Caregiving field. I am still in contact with her and her family to this day. I have worked in a day program for adults with IDD for a little over 2 years. This past year I worked in a residential facility for adults with IDD. Both opportunities were extremely rewarding and allowed me to gain more experience in this field. Take accurate vital signs, blood sugar tests, EKG, blood pressure, bladder scans, and other required measurement per protocol in compliance with patient complaint. Transporting patient to different areas in the hospital, feeding, bathing, and dressing. Provide high quality patient care as an in demand per-diem within surgical, acute care, rehabilitation, home healthcare and nursing home settings. Preserve patient dignity and minimize discomfort while carrying out duties such as feeding, grooming, bedpan changes, diapering, emptying drainage bags, glucose monitoring, bathing. Commended for chart accuracy, effective team collaboration, patient relations and consistent delivery of empathetic care. Displayed strong clinical skills in assessing vital signs, and providing pre- and post-operative care. Adhered to safety guidelines, completed hospital's three-hour Patient Safety Training Program. Ensured the accurate, timely flow of information by maintaining thorough patient records and updating healthcare team on patients' status. To be a caregiver is all I've ever wanted to do, I feel like I was born to be a caregiver. And I really love to communicate with elders. I can learn more life experience from them. Also I will be happy when I have the ability to bring some comfort to the elderly, that's so wonderful to see the smile on their face.
